  • Patent number: 10527162
Abstract: A motor vehicle control system that includes a first user-operable transmission selector for selecting a transmission operating mode and a user-operable gear selector, such as paddle input controls. The gear selector is operable in a first functional mode to select between a plurality of forward direction gear ratios. The gear selector is also operable in a second functional mode to select between a forward direction and reverse direction. This allows a user to use the gear selector to control travel in forward and reverse directions.

  • Patent number: 10293827
Abstract: A system comprising a speed controller configured to generate a speed controller powertrain signal in order to cause a powertrain to develop drive torque and cause a vehicle to operate in accordance with a target speed value. The system generates a signal indicative of a rate of acceleration of the vehicle, and is configured to command a powertrain to develop an amount of positive drive torque according to the speed controller powertrain signal in dependence at least in part on the signal indicative of the rate of acceleration of the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 9657834
Abstract: Some embodiments of the present invention provide a control system for a motor vehicle having a first user-operable transmission selector means for selecting a forward operating mode of a transmission corresponding to travel in a forward direction and a reverse operating mode of a transmission corresponding to travel in a reverse direction opposite the forward direction, the control system comprising: a user-operable gear selector configured in a first functional mode to, upon receipt of a user input, select between a plurality of forward direction gear ratios, and wherein the user-operable gear selector is re-configured in a second functional mode to, upon receipt of a user input, select between the forward operating mode and the reverse operating mode.

  • Publication number: 20160195186
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide a motor vehicle control system comprising: a first user-operable transmission selector means for selecting a transmission operating mode; and a second user-operable transmission selector means for selecting a transmission operating mode, wherein the first transmission selector means and not the second transmission selector means is operable to select a transmission operating mode when the control system is operated in a first predetermined function mode and the second transmission selector means is operable to select a transmission operating mode when the control system is operated in a second predetermined function mode different from the first, the control system being configured to assume operation in the second predetermined function mode when a first set of one or more predetermined conditions are met.

  • Patent number: 9266528
Abstract: The present invention relates to a control system for a vehicle (100), the system comprising: control means operable to monitor an accelerator control signal of the vehicle and to control a powertrain of the vehicle to apply an amount of torque to one or more wheels (111, 112,114, 115) of the vehicle (100) corresponding to the accelerator control signal, the powertrain comprising prime mover means (121, 123); and means for determining whether the measured rate of acceleration of the vehicle and the accelerator control signal have an expected correspondence, wherein if the measured rate of acceleration and the accelerator control signal do not have the expected correspondence, the control means is operable to command a change in the amount of torque applied to the one or more wheels by the powertrain.
