  • Patent number: 7092384
Abstract: A system and method for providing a voice and/or data service is thus presented, comprising the following. A connection request is detected. The connection request is formatted into a data cell. The data cell is sent to a service control point. The service control point determines in real time whether a connection to public switch network is available. If the connection to a public switch network is available, the requested connection is set up as a virtual circuit connection to the public switch network.

  • Publication number: 20050281652
Abstract: A portable tipping apparatus 1 for tipping a shipping container 20 for loading includes a base 3 adapted to rest upon a supporting surface and a tipping platform 6 mounted on the base with fasteners 10 for securing the container thereto. Actuators 7 tilt the tipping platform 6 to raise an opening end of the container for loading the container with bulk product. Four fittings 41 fixed to the base 3 in a rectangular array are provided to receive twist locks for securing the apparatus 1 in transport. A door-control device 44 mounted on the tipping platform 6 is operable to open or close the doors 26, 26? of the container at any tilted position of the tipping platform 6 and includes an elongate arm 45 pivoted by an actuator 50. A block 48 sliding longitudinally on the arm 45 is fixed by a clamp 49 to the door of the container.

  • Publication number: 20030184934
Abstract: A power distribution circuit is disclosed. In one embodiment, the power distribution circuit includes a plurality of transistors and a control unit IC. First terminals of each of the transistors may be coupled to separate voltage sources. Second terminals of each of the transistors may be coupled to a common power node. An electronic system may receive power from one of the voltage sources when one of the transistors is on. The control unit IC may activate one or more of the transistors by driving a voltage to the control terminal of the transistor to be activated. The control unit IC may also monitor a voltage difference between the first terminal and the second terminal of each of the transistors. If the voltage of the second terminal becomes greater than the voltage of the first terminal for a given transistor, the control terminal may deactivate the transistor.

  • Publication number: 20030035073
Abstract: A multi-mode bi-directional communications device including a diplexer having a high-pass filter, a first low-pass filter, and a second low-pass filter). Downstream processing circuitry is coupled to the high-pass filter, and upstream processing circuitry is selectively coupled to the first low-pass filter and the second low-pass filter in response to an indicium of a desired spectral region. 1. The downstream processing circuitry comprising a tuner, a demodulator, a first SAW filter adapted for selective coupling between the tuner and the demodulator, and a second SAW filter adapted for selective coupling between the tuner and the demodulator.

  • Publication number: 20030022631
Abstract: A multi-mode bidirectional communications device including a diplexer having a high-pass filter, a low-pass filter, and a notch filter selectively coupled to the low-pass filter. The notch-filter is selectively coupled to the low-pass filter in response to an indicium of a desired spectral region.

  • Publication number: 20020161652
Abstract: A system and method for inventory monitoring and control of household consumable items using at least one smart container. A smart container implements an ID tag and one or more sensors to determine the type and amount remaining of a household consumable item it contains. The modular nature of a smart container enables the system to monitor and control the inventory of such items wherever they are located within home storage areas. The smart containers communicate with a container interface unit, which in turn communicates with a logic processing unit that uses novel methods to monitor and control the inventory of any or all household consumable items. A global access unit communicates with other devices on the internet to execute the monitoring and control methods. Any one or more of these three units can be constructed as part of, or be located inside or outside, home storage areas.

  • Publication number: 20010037512
Abstract: A signal interface supports bi-directional communication in a signal communication system. The signal interface is preferably utilized within a cable television/communication system set top box. The signal interface includes a diplexer positioned between an input/output of the set top box and a signal splitter. By positioning the diplexer before the signal splitter, there is no attenuation of a return data channel (RDC) signal. Thus, a lower gain RDC amplifier may be used. Additionally, the signal splitter is operable over a smaller frequency range since the signal splitter need only operate over the frequency bandwidth of the video signal and not the combined frequency bandwidth of the video signal and the RDC.

  • Patent number: 4760816
Abstract: An animal litter box includes a stiff rectangular open ended tubular support shell and a disposable litter containing, longitudinally collapsible expandable rectangular chamber member with accordian pleated peripheral walls and rectangular stiff front and rear walls, the rear wall having a filter covered opening and the front wall having an animal access opening and a hinged cover member swingable between a ramp defining open position and a closed position covering the access opening. In assembled condition the chamber telescopes the shell, the border of the chamber rear end wall abuts the rear edge of the shell, and the chamber front wall registers with the shell front opening and is releasably locked by swingable latches. Straps are provided to tie the chamber in its collapsed condition.
