Patent number: 11674540Abstract: A thrust reverser for a nacelle may comprise a composite track beam and a composite lug. The composite lug may be inserted through a through-hole in the composite track beam. Continuous fibers in the composite lug may provide strength in the in-plane direction.Type: GrantFiled: May 9, 2019Date of Patent: June 13, 2023Assignee: Rohr, Inc.Inventors: Christian Soria, Charles M. Biset, Andrew S. Gurney

Patent number: 10828809Abstract: A method is provided for manufacturing a composite body. A first longitudinal portion of a continuous length of prepreg material is shaped using a first die of a compression molding tool to provide a shaped first longitudinal portion of the continuous length of prepreg material. The shaped first longitudinal portion is consolidated using the compression molding tool to provide a first portion of the composite body. The first portion of the composite body is moved out of the compression molding tool. The first die is swapped for a replacement first die. A second longitudinal portion of the continuous length of prepreg material is shaped using the replacement first die of the compression molding tool to provide a shaped second longitudinal portion of the continuous length of prepreg material. The shaped second longitudinal portion is consolidated using the compression molding tool to provide a second portion of the composite body.Type: GrantFiled: April 2, 2018Date of Patent: November 10, 2020Assignee: Rohr, Inc.Inventor: Andrew S. Gurney

Patent number: 10695986Abstract: A method is provided for forming a structural panel. During this method, a core structure is formed by shaping a first portion of a sheet of ribbon material to form a first baffle and a first septum. Thermoplastic material is then overmolded onto the ribbon material, between the first baffle and the first septum, to form a first set of walls.Type: GrantFiled: August 22, 2017Date of Patent: June 30, 2020Assignee: Rohr, Inc.Inventors: Andrew S. Gurney, Raymond R. Listak

Patent number: 10414481Abstract: During a method for forming a structural panel, a core structure is formed that includes a plurality of corrugated ribbons and a plurality of walls. Each of the corrugated ribbons is laterally between a respective adjacent pair of the walls. Each of the corrugated ribbons includes a plurality of baffles and a plurality of porous septums. Each of the porous septums is longitudinally between a respective adjacent pair of the baffles. The forming of the core structure includes bonding a first of the walls to a first of the corrugated ribbons and subsequently bonding a second of the walls to the first of the corrugated ribbons. The core structure is bonded to a first skin. The core structure is bonded to a second skin. The core structure is vertically between the first skin and the second skin, and the first skin is configured with a plurality of perforations.Type: GrantFiled: February 14, 2017Date of Patent: September 17, 2019Assignee: Rohr, Inc.Inventors: David E. Pierick, Raymond R. Listak, Andrew S. Gurney
