  • Publication number: 20050025288
Abstract: A system and method to qualify a line pair by a single technician is disclosed. The method may include, sending an initiate test signal to a termination unit (HTU). The HTU may be a central office termination unit (HTU-C) at a telephone switching office or a remote termination unit (HTU-R) at a subscriber end of the line pair. The method may also include performing a series of line pair qualifying tests, wherein the HTU is adapted to provide selected types of terminations connectable to the line pair to perform the qualifying tests. The system involves using a termination unit (HTU) as a far-end device to selectively provide different types of terminations connectable to a line pair to perform the series of qualifying tests with a technician at only a testing end of the line pair.
