  • Patent number: 9528723
Abstract: A system includes, in one example, a first heater device, a second heater device, and a temperature sensor, each disposed within a fluid flow. The system further includes a controller communicatively coupled to the first heater device, the second heater device, and the temperature sensor. The controller is configured to receive, from the temperature sensor, an indication of a measured temperature of the fluid flow. The controller is further configured to control, based on a difference between the measured temperature of the fluid flow and a target temperature, operation of the first heater device via a first pulse width modulation signal and operation of the second heater device via a second pulse width modulation signal.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: September 20, 2013
Date of Patent: December 27, 2016
    Assignee: Hamilton Sundstrand Corporation
Inventors: Andrew Semyanko, William Tice, Gregory R. Leaper

  • Publication number: 20130178989
Abstract: An air conditioning system includes an air conditioning unit and a controller in operative communication with the air conditioning unit. The controller creates a temperature estimation to control operation of the air conditioning unit from readings received from a plurality of temperature sensors. The temperature estimation is formed by averaging the readings received from the plurality of temperature sensors to form a preliminary average, excluding one of the plurality of temperature sensors that provided a reading furthest away from the preliminary average to form a subset of the plurality of temperature sensors, and forming the temperature estimation based on the subset.

  • Patent number: 4395860
Abstract: A buckstay stirrup for a steam generator is formed from a single plate, requiring only cutting and bending. The plate after cutting is bent to form two angled support portions (24) and a central portion (20). The outboard section (22) of the intermediate portion is cut (32) so that it extends inwardly to engage the inner edge of a buckstay, which is in the form of an I-beam. The central intermediate portion (20) is formed to be located inwardly of the outboard portion and contains an accordian fold (30) to permit the shortening which occurs during the bending. The two intermediate portions (20,22) are in parallel planes spaced to accept the buckstay flange therebetween.
