  • Patent number: 10513941
Abstract: A gas turbine engine, configured with a first chamber and a second chamber separated by a partition wall; wherein the partition wall includes a stationary element and a rotating element separated by a seal and either of the stationary element and the rotating element of the partition wall is segmented by a levered joint. The levered joint includes a lever having a trigger plate, a fixture portion and a fulcrum portion; and, the other of the stationary element and rotating element includes a hammer which is axially aligned and separated from the trigger plate in a first position, and forcibly contacts the hammer portion in a second position so as to create a moment on the lever via the trigger plate, the moment forcing the levered joint apart.

    Assignee: ROLLS-ROYCE plc
Inventors: William James Smith, Andrew Shorney, Paul Mawhinney
  • Patent number: 9638052
Abstract: There is described a seal assembly for a gas turbine engine comprising: a first seal having a sealing passage which defines a flow path trajectory for leakage air, the first seal for partitioning a first pressure area to a lower pressure area; a second seal located along the line of the flow path trajectory of the first seal, the second seal for partitioning a second pressure area and the lower pressure area; a deflection member located between the first seal and second seal, and in the trajectory of the flow path from the first seal.

  • Patent number: 7258184
Abstract: A battery replacement system for an industrial truck has an electrical propulsion drive and at least one battery compartment for holding a battery block. The battery block can be moved essentially in a horizontal direction into the battery compartment or out of the battery compartment. An external holding apparatus independent of the industrial truck is provided for the battery block. The industrial truck can be maneuvered over the holding apparatus such that the holding apparatus is positioned beneath the battery compartment. The battery block located within the battery compartment can be lifted slightly by the holding apparatus. The force required to lift the battery block can be produced by the electrical propulsion drive.
