  • Patent number: 11139899
Abstract: Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, receiving, by a receiver through a medium from a transmitter, signals over an acoustic channel, where the receiving over the acoustic channel utilizes a high center frequency and provides for a high data rate, and where the medium is a fluid or a semi-solid medium. The device can receive power from the transmitter over the acoustic channel. Other embodiments are disclosed.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 26, 2016
Date of Patent: October 5, 2021
Assignee: The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois
Inventors: Michael L. Oelze, Thomas Riedl, Andrew Singer
  • Publication number: 20200028595
Abstract: A system and method includes a receiver configured to receive a communication signal from a transmitter. A motion determining unit connected with the receiver is configured to provide information about a motion of the receiver relative to the transmitter. An adaptive equalizer is connected with the receiver, the adaptive equalizer is configured to use the information about the motion to undo effects of time variation in the communication signal.

  • Publication number: 20170013435
Abstract: Automatic Location Information (ALI) data that is representative of a landline address is digitally retrieved, and automatically transferred to an emergency call taker over a wireless system emergency network Importantly, the ALI information is determined based on association to a proximate location. Before an emergency call is initiated, additional environmental information, such as a RFID tag, location beacon, WiFi access point, Bluetooth device, or other communication signal with a known location, is included in the wireless session data exchange, used to match one or more location inputs to a fixed civic location (street address) which is used to dispatch emergency responders. Alternatively, the mechanism matches to a precise geodetic location (e.g., where no civic location is available).

  • Patent number: 9510169
Abstract: Dynamically selecting and facilitating stored caller information to a communications recipient device with a communications event, based on communication recipient credentials (e.g. IP address, MDN, etc.), preferences outlined in a subscriber profile associated with a relevant calling device, and other variables, e.g., time of day, location of calling device, etc. A subscriber is permitted to provision subscriber preferences and subscriber information associated with users of a subscribing communications device in to a subscriber profile, for use during a communications event. Subscriber preferences are defined to place restrictive conditions on stored subscriber information that may be transmitted with a communications event initiated by a corresponding communications device. A content collection node dynamically selects customized caller information via a subscriber information content collection process.

  • Publication number: 20130262195
Abstract: An example of a system for presenting coupons is disclosed herein. An example of the system includes a user interface to collect information from a user and present coupons to the user and a non-transitory storage medium including a first database of information relating to the user collected from the user interface and further including a second database of coupons. The system also includes a coupon engine to: aggregate coupons from different sources, normalize the coupons into a common coupon data format, and store the coupons in the second database of the non-transitory storage medium. The system further includes an offer engine to analyze the coupons in the second database based in part on the collected information in the first database relating to the user to create a set of coupons for the user. An example of a method for presenting personalized coupon offers is also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 8085883
Abstract: A high-speed maximum likelihood sequence estimation method and device. The method includes identifying candidate paths through a state trellis based on a group of observed data, where each candidate path corresponds to a best path through a trellis beginning at one of a possible prior states (and corresponding prior data bit or bits), and then selecting one of the paths based on candidate sequence selection information, typically prior state decisions (e.g., data symbols in the form of one or more bits). The path selection, in turn, provides decoding of symbols and data bit information for use in selecting one of the candidate paths in a subsequent stage.

  • Patent number: 7243928
Abstract: A lightweight foldable cart for transporting on wheels one end of a small boat including a pair of identical frame or strut members, each being U-shaped with spaced arms extending parallel to each other from ends of a rear plate. Distal ends of the arms each include an opening for a shaft so that when the shaft extends through the openings joining the distal ends of the arms the frame members can be rotated about the shaft from an extended, deployed position to a folded position for storage. Each rear plate has an opening for an axle, which extends through the openings in the rear plate for supporting rotatable wheels at each end of the axle. A boat supporting bumper is mounted on the distal ends of the arms when the strut members are extended into the deployed position. The bumper is shaped to accommodate a bottom of the end of the boat to be supported and transported.
