Patent number: 9772218Abstract: A weighing device is disclosed including a motor that can be used to rotate a drive head. The drive head supports a cylindrical spindle having a plurality of holes or recesses. The spindle is configured so that it can be easily removed from the rotatable drive head and placed on a load sensor that can be used for weighing the device. In use a blister strip (not shown) can be loaded onto the spindle. An evacuation unit is provided with a pair of cutting blades. The load sensor can determine a first measurement of weight when the blisters are full of powder and a second measurement of weight after the evacuation unit has been used to evacuate receptacles supported on the spindle.Type: GrantFiled: June 4, 2015Date of Patent: September 26, 2017Assignee: MOLINS PLCInventors: Alex Jezequel, Andrew Stevenson

Publication number: 20170268781Abstract: A combustion staging system includes a splitting unit which receives a metered fuel flow and controllably splits the received fuel flow into pilot and mains flows. Pilot and mains fuel manifolds distribute fuel from the splitting unit to the pilot and mains stages. The splitting unit selects and deselects pilot-only operation. Both pilot and mains manifolds are selectable for pilot and mains operation. A cooling flow recirculation line has a delivery section arranged to provide a cooling flow of fuel to the mains manifold when it is deselected during pilot-only operation. Cooling flow enters the delivery section from a high pressure fuel zone of the engine and exits the return section to a low pressure fuel zone of the engine. A controller adjusts the splitting unit during pilot-only operation to partially select the mains manifold thereby increasing the pressure in the mains manifold to meet a target fuel pressure therein.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 10, 2017Publication date: September 21, 2017Applicant: ROLLS-ROYCE plcInventors: Andrew STEVENSON, Graham THOMPSON

Patent number: 9581088Abstract: A control system is provided for performing staging control of a multi-stage combustor of a gas turbine engine. The fuel is fed to the combustor by a fuel supply system comprising: a plurality of fuel manifolds distributing fuel to respective stages of the combustor, a fuel metering valve operable to control the rate at which fuel passes to the fuel manifolds, and an actuating arrangement which splits the fuel flow from the fuel metering valve between the fuel manifolds. The control system includes a fuel pressure sensor arrangement which senses the fuel pressure at entry to the actuating arrangement, and/or in one or more of the fuel manifolds. The control system further includes a controller which repeatedly: calculates a fuel split between the fuel manifolds based on the sensed fuel pressure(s), and issues a command signal to the actuating arrangement to implement the calculated fuel pressure-based fuel split.Type: GrantFiled: June 4, 2014Date of Patent: February 28, 2017Assignee: ROLLS-ROYCE plcInventors: Yong Qin, Andrew Stevenson

Patent number: 9550569Abstract: A frame has a first frame portion configured to sit on a base of a vehicle seat and demountably receive a machine. A second portion of frame is coupled with and extends substantially upright from the first portion. The second portion is adjacent and bears against a back of the seat. Extending across the second portion from side to side is a lateral frame element. The lateral frame element enables the frame to be secured on and to the seat by way of a conventional seat belt. The frame also includes a pivoting support shown in this embodiment as a tray for supporting a box of capsules which are dispensed by the machine.Type: GrantFiled: February 27, 2014Date of Patent: January 24, 2017Assignee: Raindance Systems Pty Ltd.Inventor: Robert Andrew Stevenson

Patent number: 8935975Abstract: An incendiary machine (10) comprises a feed and dispensing system (12), a priming system (20) and a control system. The feed and dispensing system (12) feeds a belt (14) of incendiary capsules (16) to a region at which individual capsules are separated from the belt and dispensed from the machine (10). The priming system (20) primes the capsule (16) prior to being dispensed from the machine (10) with a priming liquid which, when delivered into a capsule, facilitates an exothermic reaction. The control system controls the feed and dispensing system (12), and the priming system (20) independently of each other so that the belt (14) can be fed into and indeed thought the machine (10) with the priming liquid being injected into the capsules.Type: GrantFiled: March 2, 2011Date of Patent: January 20, 2015Assignee: Raindance Systems Pty LtdInventor: Robert Andrew Stevenson
