  • Publication number: 20070147467
Abstract: An apparatus for measuring a condensable component of a gas sample, such as a hydrocarbon gas sample, includes a slightly roughened measurement surface for exposure to the gas sample. An electronic cooling device cools the measurement surface to cause at least some of the gas sample to condense on the measurement surface. A light source is arranged to transmit light to the measurement surface and the presence of condensate when formed thereon is detected by a change in light intensity detected by a light detector. The apparatus initiates a sequence of cooling cycles for generating an optimal cooling profile such that the rate of cooling of the measurement surface decreases near the dew point temperature of the gas sample for accurate dew point measurement.

  • Publication number: 20060179802
Abstract: A cyclonic separating apparatus for separating solid material from a fluid includes a separating chamber, an inlet communicating with the separating chamber for carrying the fluid with the solid matter entrained therein to the separating chamber, and an outlet for carrying the fluid away from the separating chamber after the solid material has been separated therefrom. The outlet is formed by a conduit communicating with the interior of the separating chamber and having a longitudinal axis. A plurality of groves are formed in an interior surface of the conduit outlet and extend in the same direction as the longitudinal axis. The presence of the grooves in the outlet has the effect of reducing noise generated by the apparatus when in use and also improves pressure recovery.

  • Publication number: 20010022028
Abstract: The invention relates to scissors. Hitherto scissors have been formed with rigid and identical handles to allow use in either hand, but with some discomfort to the user, or with handles specifically shaped to suit a right-handed or a left-handed user, but not both. The object of the invention is to provide a pair of scissors able to be used in comfort by both right-handed and left-handed users, an objective met by a construction comprising blades and associated handles pivotally secured together, the handles forming respective finger and thumb bows that are symmetrical about the center plane at the mid-point through their thickness, at least one (thumb) bow being formed as a rigid structure from the forward end towards the pivot to a point along the length of that bow, from where the at least one (thumb) bow has a rearward part formed from a form-stable but resilient and/or flexible material.
