    Abstract: A wagering system comprises a race providing system facilitating wagering on race events and providing information regarding the race events, and at least one wagering terminal in communication with the race providing system. The at least one wagering terminal includes communication to a program that determines the best wagering site for a specific wager that is placed through the system. The terminal may also enables a race event selector to select next race events for wagering, a display to present information regarding the selected race events, a user interface to place a wager on an elected race event of the selected race events displayed, and a wagering value mechanism to provide a wager amount for the wager on the elected race event. A user account is accessed for funding and crediting of wagers. User accounts may be set up by data transmission to personnel (including tippers) who are scheduled by an on-line scheduling program.

    Abstract: A method of providing a wagering event comprises a player paying for at least one wager on a race event selected from the group consisting of a) a player selected wager and b) an automatically handicapped and selected wager. The player also receives on the race event c) an automatically handicapped and selected wager when a) is selected or d) a player selected wager when b) is selected, the combination of selections a) and c) and selections b) and d) forming a special event wager. After results of the race event are final, the player has the potential to receive an award dependent upon predetermined criteria having been met in results of the race event with respect to the special event wager. The criteria may require that at least one of a) a player selected wager and b) an automatically handicapped and selected wager be winning events in the race event results.

Further, the at least one wagering terminal may offer one or more bonus picks in addition to a wager placed by a user of the at least one wagering terminal. Further, a single account wagering card system may be provided to facilitate, among other things, promotion of the at least one wagering terminal. The at least one wagering terminal may also be configured to provide wagering customized to a user risk profile. A system and method may also be provided to display wagering results. A concentrator may also be provided to facilitate services in association with the at least one wagering terminal.
