The sensor groups are secured in the membrane by cross-linking. The membrane may be a styrene-butadiene-styrene triblock elastomeric copolymer, with dialkyl phosphate cross-linked sensor groups resulting from a cross-linking reaction between the membrane and diallyl phosphoric acid.
