  • Patent number: 5560829
Abstract: Alkali metal aluminosilicate of the zeolite P type having the oxide formula M.sub.2/n O.Al.sub.2 O.sub.3.(1.80-2.66)SiO.sub.2.yH.sub.2 O, y being the water content, proves to have both excellent Calcium Effective Binding Capacity and Calcium Uptake Rate at temperatures below 25.degree. C. The present invention provides for the use of such a zeolite P as a low temperature calcium binder.

  • Patent number: 5298183
Abstract: A soap powder having a bulk density of at least 600 g/liter contains 35-80 wt % of organic detergent-active material, of which 70-100 wt % is fatty acid soap of low (.ltoreq.20.degree. C.) Krafft temperature, and 20-65 wt % of inorganic and/or builder salts, and may be prepared by granulation and densification in a high-speed mixer/granulator. The high bulk density soap powder shows improved powder properties and better wetting and dispersion behavior in the wash than corresponding undensified powder.

  • Patent number: 5160654
Abstract: A laundry treatment product, in the form of a sachet containing a particulate bleaching detergent composition containing sodium percarbonate, has at least two compartments to enable the sodium percarbonate to be segregated from certain other ingredients, particularly zeolites. The sachet product exhibits improved bleach stability on storage. Sachets of water-soluble polyvinyl alcohol film are not insolubilized in the wash liquor since no sodium perborate is present to generate insolubilizing borate ions.

  • Patent number: 5132036
Abstract: A laundry treatment product, in the form of a single-compartment of multicompartment sachet capable of releasing its contents into the wash liquor during the laundry process, contains a particulate laundry treatment composition including a quaternary ammonium- or phosphonium-substituted bleach precursor, for example, cholyl-4-sulphophenyl carbonate, optionally together with a peroxy bleach compound and optionally together with one or more detergent ingredients. The sachet may be a self-contained whole wash product, or a bleach adjunct for use in conjunction with a separate detergent composition.

  • Patent number: 4732693
Abstract: A soap based detergent composition for washing fabrics comprises an ethoxylated nonionic detergent active compound and a cellulose ether in addition to the soap, with the ratio of the soap to the nonionic active being from 1:1 to 10:1. Up to 10% phosphate builder may be present. The combination of the nonionic and the cellulose ether reduces redeposition of soil compared with other redeposition agents.

  • Patent number: 4695284
Abstract: A method for washing fabrics at cold water temperatures is provided wherein fabrics are contacted below 50.degree. C. with built detergent particles comprising from 5 to 50% by weight of nonionic detergent active compound, from 15 to 90% by weight of a saturated fatty acid builder salt and from 5 to 80% carrier material chosen from water-insoluble inorganic materials, water-soluble inorganic materials, water-soluble organic materials, or mixtures thereof. The particles are prepared by distributing the aforementioned components in water, mixing the combination, and evaporating water therefrom to obtain the built particles. These built detergent particles are adapted to promote rapid dissolution or dispersion of the particle on contact with water.

  • Patent number: 4530774
Abstract: Particulate detergent compositions, especially for use in cold water, contain a detergent active material, an alkaline material and builder particles comprising a carrier material and a saturated fatty acid having at least 16 carbon atoms. The carrier material is water-soluble or water-dispersible to release the fatty acid when the composition is added to a wash liquor. The builder particles have a size of 50 to 5000 microns. Suitable carrier materials include starch, clay, silica and inorganic salts. The fatty acid may be in solid solution with a dispersant such as a nonionic surfactant. When the alkaline material is carbonate, the addition of the builder particles to the wash liquor may be delayed until after a critical state is reached.
