Patent number: 12350415Abstract: A system performs a method for characterizing passage of a patient fluid through a conduit. The method includes quantifying flow of fluidic content through a conduit, where the fluidic content includes a patient fluid, estimating a concentration of a fluid component of the patient fluid in the fluidic content, and characterizing passage of the patient fluid loss through the conduit based on the quantified flow and the concentration of the fluid component. At least one of the quantified flow or the concentration of the fluid component is based on sensor data from a sensor arrangement coupled to the conduit. Other apparatus and methods are also described.Type: GrantFiled: September 27, 2019Date of Patent: July 8, 2025Assignee: Stryker CorporationInventors: Mayank Kumar, Keng-Tsai Lin, Siddarth Satish, Andrew T. Publication number: 20250164305Abstract: Systems and methods for estimating a blood volume within a canister. The system may include means for detecting a fluid level of the fluid, such as a float sensor mechanism disposed within the canister. An imaging device captures an image of the fluid within the canister. A processor determines an estimated concentration of a blood component in the fluid based on the image. The processor determines a canister volume of the fluid based on the detected fluid level, and estimates the blood volume within the canister based on the estimated concentration of the blood component and the determined canister volume. The processor may trigger the imaging device to capture the image based on a change in the canister volume. An insert may be arranged within the canister and positioned adjacent to and offset from a transparent region of the canister.Type: ApplicationFiled: January 17, 2025Publication date: May 22, 2025Applicant: Stryker CorporationInventors: Siddarth Satish, Kevin J. Miller, Peter S. Hyoung, Andrew T. Hosford, Eric W. Hsieh

Publication number: 20250114163Abstract: A method for tracking surgical items with a system including an imaging system, a display, and one or more processors is provided. The method includes capturing a video that depicts a user handling the surgical items, and performing computational analysis of the video to detect a characteristic arm motion of the user which is indicative of the user moving the surgical item to be counted in to a surgical procedure. The method further includes, in response to each instance of the characteristic arm motion being detected, updating a count of surgical items and displaying the updated count on the display.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 20, 2024Publication date: April 10, 2025Applicant: Stryker CorporationInventors: Siddarth Satish, Mayank Kumar, Kevin J. Publication number: 20230419641Abstract: A method for analyzing a surgical textile. A depth image and a color image of the surgical textile is acquired. One or more processors analyze a depth map of the depth image to apply one or more image classifiers. Blood information is extracted from pixels of the color image if the depth image satisfies the classifier(s). The classifier(s) may be a perimeter classifier, a planarity classifier, a normality classifier, a distance classifier, and/or a color classifier, among others. The distance classifier may include transforming pixel dimensions of a selected surface in the depth image into real dimensions based on distance values of the pixels. A graphical representation may be displayed to indicate the need to move the surgical textile closer or farther to satisfy the distance classifier. A prompt may be displayed to manipulate the surgical textile prior to the steps of acquiring the depth image and the color image.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 7, 2023Publication date: December 28, 2023Applicant: Gauss Surgical Inc.Inventors: Siddarth Satish, Kevin J. Miller, Andrew T. Hosford
