  • Patent number: 11921482
Abstract: A method of controlling a microgrid comprises receiving, by a power management system, PMS, of the microgrid, operating point values for a plurality of controllable assets. The method comprises determining, by the PMS, an asset headroom. The method comprises determining, by the PMS, a modified operating point value that is dependent on the received operating point value of the controllable asset, the determined asset headroom of the controllable asset, and a total power offset of the microgrid. The method comprises controlling, by the PMS, the controllable assets for which the modified operating point values have been determined in accordance with the modified operating point values.

  • Patent number: 11398727
Abstract: A method of controlling a microgrid includes retrieving, by an energy management system, EMS, a forecast variable value for a forecast variable. The EMS determines an operating point value for a controllable asset that depends on the retrieved forecast variable value. The EMS determines an operating point shift value for the controllable asset, the operating point shift value representing a shift in operating point value in response to a variation in forecast variable value. The operating point value and the operating point shift value are provided to a power management system, PMS, of the microgrid.

  • Patent number: 11239779
Abstract: A method of controlling a power converter, connected to an electrical grid, to mimic a synchronous generator, by: determining a frequency control error with respect to a setpoint and actual frequency of the grid, determining an input power to an inertia model of a synchronous generator based on the frequency control error, regulating by means of the input power a rotational frequency of the inertia model, determining a voltage control error with respect to a setpoint and actual voltage, determining an exciter parameter of a synchronous generator model based on the voltage control error, regulating by means of the exciter parameter an output voltage of the synchronous generator model, adjusting the rotational frequency or a phase angle obtained from the rotational frequency, and the output voltage based on a virtual impedance of a stator of the synchronous generator model, and controlling the power converter based on the adjusted rotational frequency or the adjusted phase angle and on the adjusted output volta

  • Patent number: 10566786
Abstract: The present invention is concerned with a fault current enhancement for triggering a protection device, such as a fuse or circuit breaker or protection relay used in protecting a distribution line of a power distribution network in an efficient and economical way. An Induction Machine (IM) is operated in parallel with an energy source connected to the distribution line via a Power Electronics (PE) interface, to provide a fault current characteristic of the composite PE interface and IM similar to that of a synchronous generator. Comparable fault currents enable a same protection device to be provided for protecting the distribution line irrespective of a kind of interface used to source energy to the distribution line.
