  • Publication number: 20220134588
Abstract: This invention relates to a novel application of a compound of chromium and boron, or the application of chromium boride-based coatings (e.g., CrBn where an atomic percentage of boron ranges from greater than zero atomic percent to less than 100 atomic percent of said compound) to surfaces of razor blades, namely cutting edges. On razor blade edges, these novel coatings are hard, durable, and provide a novel, low cutter force and high-quality coating structure, elevating blade performance, while also simplifying the manufacturing process.

  • Patent number: 9227331
Abstract: A razor blade unit including a housing having a top surface, and a loop disposed on the top surface, the loop having two terminal ends and two exposed opposing edges between the two terminal ends. The loop intersects the top surface at the two terminal ends and the two terminal ends are spaced apart from each other on the top surface. At least a portion of at least one of the two exposed opposing edges has a cutting edge. The razor blade unit provides improved conformity to skin contours.

  • Patent number: 8889225
Abstract: Provided is a method for forming a fluorocarbon polymer on a surface of a structure. A feedstock gas is directed through a porous heat member having a temperature sufficient to crack the feedstock gas and produce a reactive species that includes (CF2)n wherein n=1 or 2 radicals in the vicinity of a structure surface on which the fluorocarbon polymer is to be formed. The structure surface is maintained at a temperature lower than that of the porous heat member to induce deposition and polymerization of the (CF2)n wherein n=1 or 2 radicals on the structure surface.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 21, 2012
Date of Patent: November 18, 2014
    Assignee: The Gillette Company
