  • Patent number: 11398363
Abstract: Circuit breakers are disclosed that include a housing with a line side and a load side, a printed circuit board in the housing, a movable contact arm with an electrical contact, a stationary line side contact, a primary trip solenoid in the housing coupled to the printed circuit board, an armature in the housing, a bimetal member in the housing adjacent the armature and adjacent the primary trip solenoid; and a lockout assembly in the housing. The lockout assembly includes a rod configured to have a first inactive position and a second lockout position. When in the second position and/or as the rod travels to the second lockout position, the rod directly or indirectly pushes the armature toward the bimetal member to physically lock out the circuit breaker to prevent conduction and separate the line side contact from the movable contact arm electrical contact.

  • Patent number: 10784672
Abstract: A circuit interrupter including a line conductor, a neutral conductor, separable contacts, an operating mechanism structured to trip open the separable contacts, a magnetic trip actuator structured to cause the operating mechanism to trip open the separable contacts in response to a short-circuit between the line and neutral conductors, a protection circuit including a self-test circuit structured to perform a self-test and to output a signal in response to failing the self-test, and an electrical component electrically connected between the line and neutral conductors and having an open state and a closed state. The electrical component is structured to switch from the open state to the closed state and cause a short-circuit between the line and neutral conductors in response to receiving the signal from the self-test circuit.

  • Patent number: 9647430
Abstract: A bus assembly is for a load center. The load center includes a cover apparatus and an electrical switching apparatus. The cover apparatus has a number of cover segments. The bus assembly comprises a bus stab structured to be coupled to the number of cover segments and the electrical switching apparatus; a bus bar structured to be coupled to the number of cover segments; and a connection device comprising an element extending from a corresponding one of the bus stab and the bus bar. The connection device is structured to move between a FIRST position corresponding to the element being electrically disconnected from the other of the corresponding one of the bus stab and the bus bar, and a SECOND position corresponding to the element being electrically connected to the other of the corresponding one of the bus stab and the bus bar.
