  • Publication number: 20240401003
Abstract: Described herein are compositions and methods for identifying, selecting, or culturing cells comprising a subject nucleic acid sequence of interest. Generally, a nucleic acid comprising a subject nucleic acid and a sequence encoding an enzyme molecule involved in biosynthesis of an amino acid is introduced into a cell. The cell is then grown on media lacking the amino acid, such that cells comprising the introduced nucleic acid are capable of growth. In some instances, the cell further comprises an inhibitor of the enzyme molecule to increase the stringency of the selection.

  • Publication number: 20240399025
Abstract: Methods of making an enhanced bioactive PRP implant include supplying a centrifuge container with a collagen-based scaffold pre-inserted onto a moveable filter within the vial. A centrifuge process for creating the PRP implant is followed, resulting in a PRP/collagen implant combination. Other biologics may be added to the container instead of or in addition to the collagen-based scaffold. Additionally, methods of fixing the PRP implant into place at the point of a tear or wound include applying the PRP implant adjacent to or within a meniscal tear, or underneath or on top of a rotator cuff tear. Suture or staples may then be routed either through or over the PRP implant to hold the implant in place.

  • Publication number: 20240382753
Abstract: Methods and devices for vector-based targeting of the human central thalamus (CT) to guide deep brain stimulation (DBS) are disclosed. In some examples, electrode(s) each with a plurality contacts are provided. A three-dimensional orientation of a dominant axis of a central lateral nucleus dorsal tegmental tract medial component (CL/DTTm) fiber bundle of a human subject is determined. The contacts of the electrode(s) are positioned in the subject's CT fibers in substantial alignment with the three-dimensional orientation. An electrical stimulus is applied to the contacts to selectively activate the CT fibers. The positioning and the applying are carried out to maximize activation of a central lateral nucleus and medial dorsal tegmental tract fiber pathway in the subject and to minimize activation of a centromedian-parafascicularis fiber pathway in the subject. Methods and devices for surgical planning involving for vector-based targeting of the human CT to guide DBS are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20240367060
Abstract: Systems and methods for enabling communication between users are described. One of the methods includes receiving, via a computer network, data regarding a plurality of real gestures made by a first user via a first user account. The data regarding the plurality of real gestures is received from a client device. The method further includes determining, from the data, whether a speed of occurrence of the plurality of real gestures is greater than a predetermined speed. After determining that the speed of occurrence of the plurality of real gestures is greater than the predetermined speed, the method includes determining one or more meanings of a combination of the plurality of real gestures. The method includes communicating the one or more meanings of the combination via a virtual avatar, controlled by the first user via the first user account, to a second user.

  • Patent number: 12130964
Abstract: Gaze tracking data representing a user's gaze is analyzed to determine one or more regions of interest. One or more gaze tracking parameters are determined from the gaze tracking data. Adjusted foveation data is determined representing an adjusted size and/or shape of one or more regions of interest in one or more images to be subsequently presented to the user based on the one or more gaze tracking parameters. The compression of the one or more transmitted images is adjusted so that fewer bits are needed to transmit data for portions of an image outside the one or more regions of interest than for portions of the image within the one or more regions of interest. Adjusting compression includes eliminating the region(s) of interest from images that are presented to the user during the saccade or blink.

  • Publication number: 20240309593
Abstract: A paver assembly includes a paving unit assembly having a first side wall, a second side wall, and an expandable frame connecting the first side wall and the second side wall together. The expandable frame can move the first side wall and the second side wall towards and away from one another to contract and expand the paving unit assembly so that a width of the paving unit assembly can be the same as a width of a surface paved by the paver assembly. The paver assembly can also include a first paving unit fixedly connected with respect to the first side wall and a second paving unit fixedly connected with respect to the second side wall, where the first paving unit and the second paving unit are offset with respect to one another and move past one another as the paver assembly expands and contracts.

  • Publication number: 20240299118
Abstract: A new and innovative medical sizing instrument and method are provided for determining an appropriate depth and/or length of a clavicle hook plate for a patient. The provided medical sizing instrument may enable a surgeon to determine an appropriate hook depth without having to switch between different components, such as a series of templates. In an example, a surgeon may insert the medical sizing instrument into a patient the same as the surgeon would a clavicle hook plate, adjust the hook depth on the medical sizing instrument until a hook depth is obtained that appropriately maintains the anatomical alignment of the patient's clavicle and acromion, and read an indicated depth on the medical sizing instrument. The surgeon may then remove the medical sizing instrument from the patient and select the appropriate clavicle hook plate to insert into the patient.
