    Abstract: A power system for a digital license plate includes a sensor, storage memory, and a battery status monitor operable only during operation of the digital license plate. The battery status monitor includes an analog to digital converter (ADC) connected to a battery to provide status data to a processor in the digital license plate, with status data being stored in the storage memory. A determination of battery lifetime being made at least in part using the status data and input from the sensor. In one embodiment status data can include external temperature.

Access to the secured network domain, via the second connection, is established by employing a second network configuration. In an aspect, the first connection is by cable and the first network configuration is associated with direct access to the secured network domain. In an aspect, the second connection is a wired or wireless signal and the second network configuration is associated with a Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection.

    Abstract: A system and method for improving TCP performance in a L2 tunneling environment by snooping TCP/IP packets from the tunnel interface, terminating TCP locally and proxying TCP data in separate TCP connections. In particular, the system and method detects an encapsulated outgoing packet utilizing a Layer 2 tunneling protocol, processes a Point to Point Protocol layer in the outgoing packet to establishing Layer 2 tunneling protocol for a connection. The system and method also removes the Point to Point Protocol layer from the outgoing packet and inspects the outgoing packet for TCP information in the packet. The system and method forwards the outgoing packet to a locally driven application protocol path if TCP information is present, wherein the outgoing packet is encapsulated in association with the application protocol path.

    Abstract: A system, apparatus, and method are directed to network communication over a tunnel by downloading selective tunneling (STM) components into memory of a client device. The STM components selectively employ tunneling to route network traffic to a requested resource. The STM components may include a network API, application, and a tunnel manager that have been modified based in part on a client configuration. As a network request is made it is evaluated against the client configuration. If the connection is to be tunneled, a network tunnel is selectively established. If the client configuration and/or the request indicate that the request is to be un-tunneled, an un-tunneled network connection may instead be established. The client configuration may also indicate that the client device is to be redirected to enable remediation. When the application component is closed, or otherwise terminated, the client's memory may be purged of the loaded STM components.

A client device is configured to log into a network device. The network device receives information about the client device, including information about its configuration and environment. Based, in part, on received information a policy for access is applied to the client device. For example, in one embodiment, the policy may allow only email access from a public kiosk client device, but full intranet access from an enterprise configured client device. The policy may further enable a restriction for the client device that may restrict, for example, what documents may be saved by the client device. In one embodiment, the restriction is enabled using a virtual sandbox.

    Abstract: The invention is directed to managing secure communications using a virtual meeting room (VR) through a firewall. The VR may operate as a virtual subnet managed by a VR server (VRS). A client requests a VR from the VRS. The VRS allocates the virtual subnet, and enables access to requested resources. The VRS provides information and authentication credentials to the client for distribution to other clients. The clients may use the provided information to authenticate to the VRS. In one embodiment, the VRS downloads to each client a virtual room client (VRC) application useable to connect to the VRS and establish a secure communications channel with the VRS and through the firewall. The secure communications channel may be used to communicate through the VRS directly to another client device, and/or broadcast messages to each client within the VR. Communications may be monitored for communication constraint compliance by the VRS.
