  • Patent number: 5983582
Abstract: A seismic resistant equipment platform is provided which may be used to stabilize equipment during a seismic event or to provide selective seismic stability within a conventional raised floor. The disclosed seismic resistant equipment platform has an array of pedestals interconnected by equipment mounting plates. Each pedestal includes a base which is mounted to a subfloor, a column which is mounted to the base, and a pedestal head which is mounted to the column. Furthermore, each pedestal head is configured to accept a portion of an equipment mounting plate as well as various stringers which may be used to support conventional floor panels. The pedestals are constructed to have sufficient stiffness to operatively transfer the stiffness of the subfloor to equipment mounting plates interconnecting such pedestals.

  • Patent number: 4278238
Abstract: A tool for feeding telephone or other cable into a manhole comprises a pair of horizontally spaced wire rope lengths 121 grouped together to form part of a longitudinally elongated support frame resiliently warpable in the vertical plane into arcuate shapes. Coupled with and at opposite sides of such lengths are cable receiving and cable discharging sleeve units 30 and 31. Also coupled with such lengths between such units are a plurality of collar units 35 spaced from each other and units 30, 31. The units 30, 31, 35 form part of said frame and, when closed, extend around respective longitudinal passages for movement of a cable through the tool. All those units are selectively openable to permit sidewise insertion and removal of the cable from such passages. The unit 31 is further adapted to act as a lubricator for the cable.

  • Patent number: 4019715
Abstract: A cable block particularly adapted for use in the installation of aerial cable comprises a main frame member formed at its upper end with an inverted V-shaped strand engaging hanger section, at its lower end with a U-shaped pulley support section, and with a spring-biased, wedging cam locking mechanism supported on the upper hanger section. The cam locking mechanism comprises a uniquely dimensioned and configured pair of wedging cams that are intercoupled and spring-biased through respectively associated, and mating spur gears. The cams are symmetrically disposed relative to, and grip, the interposed strand in such a manner that the cable block remains substantially vertically oriented on the strand at all times, and positively locked against movement selectively in either direction along the strand, regardless of the position of the open side of the cable block relative to the strand.
