  • Publication number: 20180275044
Abstract: A system and method are provided to perform loads-based structural health monitoring (LBSHM) of a dynamical system. The method includes receiving, by at least one computer, sensing data responsive to sensing at least one of a parametrical state and a response of the dynamical system, and determining a Koopman mode and a Koopman eigenvalue. The Koopman mode represents a correlation between the sensor data output by the plurality of sensors. The Koopman eigenvalue represents a frequency component associated with the sensor data and growth or decay of energy associated with the sensor data. The method further includes generating, by the at least one computer, an estimation model to determine a linear estimation based on the Koopman mode and the Koopman eigenvalue that estimates a load response of the dynamical system based on growth or decay of energy associated with the sensor data.

  • Patent number: 8037688
Abstract: A method for controlling a temperature distribution within a combustor having a plurality of chamber sections comprising controlling a fuel-to-air ratio in the chamber sections. At least two chamber sections have different fuel-to-air ratios to create a non-uniform temperature distribution within the combustor to reduce thermoacoustic instabilities.

  • Publication number: 20100204969
Abstract: A threat propagation estimator generates threat propagation estimates for a region based on a combination of sensor data (z) and model-based threat propagation estimates. The threat propagation estimator receives sensor data (z) from one or more sensor devices, and employs threat propagation model (M) to generate a model-based threat propagation estimate. A threat propagation algorithm (20) is used to combine the sensor data (z) and the model-based threat propagation estimate to generate a threat propagation estimate (Jc).

  • Patent number: 7013635
Abstract: An augmentor system minimizes acoustic pressure fluctuations on the heat release process within the augmentor by staggering the vanes therein. The alternating axial vane stagger pattern arranges the downstream set of vanes as baffles which prevent the propagation of tangential acoustic waves between the vanes to protect the upstream set of vanes from the effects of transverse acoustic velocity fluctuations which minimizes screech without substantially affecting augmentor performance.
