    Abstract: A method and apparatus provide a uniform temperature distribution across the width of a metal strip during cooling. The apparatus includes a cooling pipe having nozzles attached thereto. The nozzles are constructed and arranged so that coolant flow is greatest near the center of the strip and smallest furthest from the center of the strip to provide a uniform temperature distribution in the cooled strip.
