  • Patent number: 9636889
Abstract: Composite formed boards made of plastic and organic material with a fibrous structure are described. The composite is a foamed mix having a density lower by at least 10% and preferably 20%, than the density of a solid organic-plastic composite made of the same components. The foamed mix is bonded permanently and inseparably with a solid plastic layer, at least from a side opposite to a homogeneous rubber-polyurethane composite. The thickness of the solid plastic layer is smaller than that of the organic-plastic layer (preferably at least five times and most preferably at least fifteen times) and that of the rubber-polyurethane layer (preferably at least fifteen times and most preferably at least twenty-five times). The solid plastic layer may have a grooved structure or an impressed structure with a concavity directed inwardly. The solid plastic layer is preferably bonded with the organic-plastic layer by a co-extrusion joint.

  • Publication number: 20060180759
Abstract: A system and a method for controlling pyroelectric sensors in a focal plane array are provided. The method includes applying a first oscillatory voltage waveform to first and second pyroelectric sensors in the focal plane array such that the first and second pyroelectric sensors receive a first predetermined number of cycles of the first oscillatory voltage waveform over a first time period. The first pyroelectric sensor receives infrared radiation thereon. The method further includes generating a first output signal using the first and second pyroelectric, sensors during the first time period indicative of a temperature of the first pyroelectric sensor. The method further includes applying a second oscillatory voltage waveform to third and fourth pyroelectric sensors in the focal plane array such that the third and fourth pyroelectric sensors receive a second predetermined number of cycles of the first oscillatory voltage waveform over the first time period.

  • Publication number: 20060009891
Abstract: A method and apparatus for damping an input device, utilizes a damping element attached between a support and an input element of the input device. The damping element includes a cavity forming element and a magnetizable element. The cavity forming element defines one or more cavities containing a magnetorheological (MR) fluid. The magnetizable element is disposed at a position adjacent the MR fluid for impressing a magnetic field on the MR fluid, to thereby alter the viscosity of the MR fluid and damp the movement of the input element generated by the input. In some embodiments, the damper includes a compliant element with a porous segment having one of the one or more cavities therein containing the MR fluid, with the compliant member having a stiffness. Application of the magnetic field to the MR fluid changes the stiffness of the compliant member.
