  • Patent number: 10398200
Abstract: Systems and methods for dynamically adjusting the fit of a wearable electronic device are disclosed. In many embodiments, a tensioner associated with a wearable electronic device can control one or more actuators that are mechanically coupled to either the housing or to a band attached to the wearable electronic device. In one example, in response to a signal to increase the tightness of the band, the tensioner can cause the actuator(s) to increase the tension within the band.

  • Publication number: 20190223802
Abstract: A wearable electronic device includes a body, a housing component, a band operable to attach the body to a body part of a user, and a force sensor coupled to the housing component. The force sensor is operable to produce a force signal based on a force exerted between the body part of the user and the housing component. A processing unit of the wearable electronic device receives the force signal from the force sensor and determines the force exerted on the housing component based thereon. The processing unit may use that force to determine a tightness of the band, determine health information for the user, adjust determined force exerted on a cover glass, and/or to perform various other actions.

  • Patent number: 9932071
Abstract: An energy absorbing assembly includes a beam that extends in a first direction, a structural member that extends in a second direction transverse to the beam, a load transfer structure that restrains motion of the beam relative to the structural member by transferring lateral loads between the beam and the structural member, and a recess defined in the structural member. The beam is connected to the structural member within the recess and extends out of the recess. The beam is configured to shorten during an impact to define a failed portion of the beam, and the beam is connected to the structural member such that the failed portion of the beam is at least partially receivable in the recess.

  • Publication number: 20170091415
Abstract: In some implementations, a computing device can receive a prescription for a user from a medication container device. The container device can be encoded with the prescription and can transmit the prescription (e.g., medication schedule and dosage information) to the computing device. The computing device can schedule presentation of reminders for the user to take the prescribed medication according to the prescribed schedule. In some implementations, the computing device can detect when the user has taken the prescribed medication according to the prescribed schedule and cancel a scheduled reminder. In some implementations, the computing device can remind the user to take the prescribed medication when the computing device detects that the user is near the medication container device. In some implementations, the computing device can remind the user to take the prescribed medication when the computing device detects symptoms associated with the prescribed medication.

  • Patent number: 9456307
Abstract: An electronic device may be provided with electronic components such as mapping circuitry for measuring distances, areas, volumes or other properties of objects in the surrounding environment of the device. The mapping circuitry may include a laser sensor and device position detection circuitry. The device may include processing circuitry configured to gather laser sample data and device position data using the laser sensor and the device position detection circuitry. The laser sample data and the device position data may be gathered while pointing a laser beam generated with a laser in the laser sensor at one or more sample points on a surface such as a surface of a wall. By tracking the device position and orientation using the device position detection circuitry, the objects may be mapped while gathering laser sample data from any position with respect to the object.
