  • Patent number: 8704043
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to the field of molecular biology and concerns a method for increasing various plant yield-related traits by increasing expression in a plant of a nucleic acid sequence encoding an ammonium transporter (AMT) polypeptide. The present invention also concerns plants having increased expression of a nucleic acid sequence encoding an AMT polypeptide, which plants have increased yield-related traits relative to control plants. The invention also provides constructs useful in the methods of the invention.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 21, 2008
Date of Patent: April 22, 2014
    Assignee: CropDesign N.V.
Inventors: Valerie Frankard, Andy Allen, Chris Bowler
  • Publication number: 20110061126
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to the field of molecular biology and concerns a method for increasing various plant yield-related traits by increasing expression in a plant of a nucleic acid sequence encoding a diatom high affinity nitrate transporter 2 (NRT2) polypeptide. The present invention also concerns plants having increased expression of a nucleic acid sequence encoding a diatom NRT2 polypeptide, which plants have increased yield-related traits relative to control plants. The invention also provides constructs useful in the methods of the invention.

  • Publication number: 20050238658
Abstract: A transposon which comprises an RNA polymerase recognition site and a homing endonuclease recognition site. The transposon may be used in methods for the identification of an essential gene or a conditional essential gene of an organism. Genes identified in such methods are useful as substrates for use in screening for antibacterials, antiparasitics, fungicides, pesticides and herbicides.

  • Patent number: 6401674
Abstract: An engine capable of use with multiple different types of fuels including gasoline and alcohol based flues and heavy fuels such as diesel fuel, JP5, JP8, Jet A and kerosene based fuels. The engine includes a main cylinder having a compression chamber at one end and a piston that is movable along the length of the cylinder and which connects to a crankshaft for the engine. A fuel delivery system delivers a combustible mixture of fuel and air through a fuel delivery valve into the combustion chamber at a sonic velocity of flow such that the fuel is substantially atomized into the air of the combustible mixture delivered to the combustion chamber. The combustible mixture is ignited by an igniter within the combustion chamber to urge the piston along the cylinder for driving the crankshaft of the engine.
