  • Patent number: 6318679
Abstract: An apparatus for mounting computer peripheral equipment, such as disk drives or CD ROMs, comprises a drive cage and rails. The drive cage, a part of a computer chassis, defines several bays for receiving disk drives or CD ROMs therein. The drive cage has side walls forming bends whereby each pair of bends defines a receiving channel in each bay, and spring tabs project into each bay. Two rails each having a leading end and spring fingers are attached to sides of the CD ROM for slidably mounting in the corresponding bay of the drive cage. The leading end of the rail facilitates alignment the receiving channel. The spring fingers abut against with the bend of the channel to prevent clearance from forming between the bend and the rail. When the CD ROM is fully inserted into the bay, the spring tabs are attached to the rail thereby providing good grounding and easy installation capabilities.

  • Patent number: 5992955
Abstract: An enclosure (10) of a computer includes a U-shaped frame (12) consisting essentially of a front panel (14), a rear panel (16) and a bottom panel (18) therebetween, commonly defining therein a rectangular parallelepiped space for receiving therein the components such as the mother board, the drive and the power supply (64), etc. Two side panels (30) are attached to the frame (20). A top cover (40) is slid unto the top of the frame (12) with a locking device (42) for releasably securing the top cover (30) with regard to the frame (12), thereby allowing easy inspection and repair of the defective internal components. The frame (12) further includes a securement plate (76) with a plurality of grounding fingers (78) thereon for retaining the switch power supply (64) in position. A number of grounding fingers (84) are provided on the top edge of the rear panel (16) of the frame (12) corresponding to the fingers (78) of the securement plate (76), thereby providing the power supply (64) with superior grounding.

  • Patent number: 5986881
Abstract: A disk driver cage assembly for receiving a plurality of different disk drivers, includes a disk driver cage and a front rack wherein the disk driver cage is defined with a plurality of bays for receiving the corresponding disk drivers therein, each which have at least a guiding rail and a stop portion. The front rack retained with the disk driver cage includes an opening and a plurality of holes corresponding to the bays. A conductive bay cover is retained with the disk driver cage to cover a corresponding bay which is available, for preventing EMI and ESD. A lock is rotatably attached on the front rack and close to one corresponding bay of the disk driver cage, includes a main body, an operation portion for providing users with manual operation, a latching portion for latching with the inserted disk driver and a pivotal portion for providing the lock with a rotatable movement.
