Abstract: A sensing device configured for use in detecting biofouling adhered to a substrate, a method of detecting biofouling and a method of manufacturing a sensing device for detecting biofouling are disclosed. The methods and systems comprise a sensing device configured for use in detecting biofouling adhered to a substrate, the device comprising a sensing component. The sensing component comprises an electromagnetic wave sensor, the substrate and the electromagnetic wave sensor may be coupled to the substrate so as to be able to detect biofouling on the substrate.
