    Abstract: A topical composition comprising a dihydropyridine calcium antagonist, a stiffening agent and a release modifier. The stiffening agent comprises a fatty alcohol, a fatty acid sorbitane ester, or a fatty acid glycerol ester, having a hydrocarbon chain containing 12 to 22 carbon atoms and having a melting point of about 45 to 750° C. The release modifier comprises a fatty alcohol, a fatty alcohol glycol ether, a fatty acid alkyl ester, a fatty acid glycerol ester, or a fatty acid sorbitane ester, having a hydrocarbon chain containing 12 to 18 carbon atoms and having a melting point of about ?10 to 400° C.
