Patent number: 9825472Abstract: A device for detecting a short beacon signal includes a power-receiving unit (PRU) to receive the short beacon signal from one or more power-transmitting units (PTUs). An active load level is asserted for detection by the one or more PTUs in response to the short beacon signal. The active load level, once asserted, makes a detectable change in a reflected impedance associated with the PRU as measured by at least one of the one or more PTUs.Type: GrantFiled: May 15, 2015Date of Patent: November 21, 2017Assignee: AVAGO TECHNOLOGIES GENERAL IP (SINGAPORE) PTE. LTD.Inventors: John S. Walley, Angel Arturo Polo

Patent number: 9774209Abstract: Power distribution circuitry to improve wireless power distribution and facilitate wireless power transfer (WPT) operations in a wireless communication device under a variety of operating conditions. In various exemplary embodiments of the disclosure, the power distribution circuitry operates to provide a wireless power (WP) supply voltage to wireless communication circuitry of the device in order enable a WPT connection procedure under certain low power conditions. Such conditions might include a power off mode, a sleep mode, and dead/low battery operating conditions wherein the available battery supply voltage is less than a threshold voltage required to enable device components. The power distribution circuitry may switch the supply voltage of the wireless communication circuitry to another available supply voltage source after the WPT connection procedure is completed and wireless power is being received by the wireless communication device.Type: GrantFiled: December 30, 2013Date of Patent: September 26, 2017Assignee: AVAGO TECHNOLOGIES GENERAL IP (SINGAPORE) PTE.Inventors: Ming Yu Lin, Lee Song Cher, Khim Leng Low, John Stuart Walley, Domitille Odile Emmeline Esnard-Domerego, Yasantha Nirmal Rajakarunanayake, Angel Arturo Polo

Patent number: 9674644Abstract: A method and system detect directionality between two objects by measuring angles of signals incident on antenna arrays on at least one side to determine angle of incidence. The methods utilize Bluetooth Low Energy communications for both the control protocol and for providing updated information for deriving directionality. Directionality information is broadcast on selected BLE advertising or data channels, or broadcast using a hopping pattern over the BLE data channels, both at a specific interval duty cycle. If a hopping pattern is selected to transmit directionality information, then anchor information is simultaneously broadcast on the BLE advertising or data channels at a different, asynchronous duty cycle. In additional embodiments, signals incident on antenna arrays located on both target and tracking sides are used to determine angle of incidence, separate antennas are combined to form new antennas and antenna models are used to anticipate known antenna structure responses.Type: GrantFiled: October 13, 2015Date of Patent: June 6, 2017Assignee: Avago Technologies General IP (Singapore) Pte. LtdInventors: Angel Arturo Polo, Thomas Francis Baker, Michael David Herndon, Arthur H Jin, Fredrick Lee Chen
