  • Patent number: 8365914
Abstract: A carton comprises a plurality of adjoined panels that define an interior space, including a front panel and a back panel opposite one another, and a first side panel and a second side panel opposite one another, at least one of which is a movable panel operative for being moved between a first position and a second position, and a heat-shrink patch at least partially joined to the movable panel on a side of the movable panel facing the interior space, the heat-shrink patch being operative for shrinking in response to heat so that shrinking the heat-shrink patch moves the movable panel from the first position to the second position.

  • Publication number: 20120000972
Abstract: There is described herein a disposable clam shell food service container having a continuous sidewall which includes a novel flex-hinge panel between the lid and bottom of the container. This construction permits the container to open easily when the lid is pushed upwardly resulting in a flat tray like configuration devoid of the typical upstanding median wall or divider and which may be used as a serving plate by the consumer. The container may be easily snapped closed and locked to allow later consumption of any uneaten food products. Several additional embodiments of the invention are also presented, all of which include a continuous sidewall which ensures that the food product will remain warm and one of several lock means to secure the container in its closed condition. A triangular form of the container is also described for serving of pizza, pies and similar shaped food products.

  • Patent number: 8028839
Abstract: A combination shipping and dispensing carton contains a plurality of articles. The carton comprises a plurality of panels that extends at least partially around an interior of the carton. At least two end flaps are respectively foldably connected to respective panels of the plurality of panels and are overlapped with respect to one another to at least partially form a closed end of the carton. The carton is for shipping articles to the point of sale vendor and can be converted to a dispensing carton that displays the articles and allows removal of the articles from the carton.

  • Patent number: 7882952
Abstract: A method for applying a heat shrinkable film to a carton for forming a shape of the carton is provided. The carton includes a top panel, a bottom panel, at least one side panel extending between the top panel and the bottom panel, and a movable section that is movable between a first position and a second position. The method includes providing a heat-shrinkable but unshrunken film, wrapping the film in an unheated condition around at least a portion of the carton including at least a portion of the movable section of the carton, and moving the movable section from the first position to the second position to form a shape of the carton by heating the heat-shrinkable film to shrink the heat-shrinkable film into contact with at least a portion of the movable section.

  • Patent number: 7806818
Abstract: A method for applying a heat-shrink patch to a carton for forming a shape of the carton. The carton includes a top panel, a bottom panel, at least one side panel extending between the top panel and the bottom panel and a movable section that is movable between a first position and a second position. The method includes providing a heat-shrink patch in a pre-shrunk configuration. The heat-shrink patch is coupled in the pre-shrunk configuration to at least a portion of an interior surface of a blank of sheet material including at least a portion of the movable section. The carton is formed from the blank of sheet material. The movable section is moved from the first position to the second position to form the shape of the carton by heating the heat-shrink patch to shrink the heat-shrink patch to a shrunk configuration.

  • Patent number: 7806269
Abstract: An assembly for packaging a product includes a blank of sheet material having an interior surface and an opposing exterior surface. The blank forms a carton having a top, a bottom and a plurality of side panels. Each side panel extends between the top and the bottom. A first side panel is movable between a first position and a second position. The first movable side panel is initially biased in the first position. A heat-shrink patch is applied to the interior surface and connected to at least a portion of the first movable side panel. The heat-shrink patch is shrinkable to urge the first movable side panel to the second position.
