Abstract: A smoking article identification system and method is disclosed herein. The smoking article identification system includes a smoking article identification system comprising a cigarette filter tip including a tubular member insertable within one end of a hand rolled cigarette. The tubular member includes a first end, a second end, at least one smoke-conducting passage configured to pass smoke, produced by combustion of smokable substances of the hand rolled cigarette, between the first end and the second end, and a visual indicator usable to indicate at least one characteristic of the hand rolled cigarette. In addition, a package configured to hold a plurality of the cigarette filter tips is provided. The smoking article identification system is useful for hand-rolled smoking article identification.
