  • Publication number: 20080282178
Abstract: A method of providing notification of messages and prompts associated with applications. When an application executing on a computer generates a prompt while the computer is unattended, a prompt notification program (PNP) sends descriptive information that corresponds to the prompt from the computer to a mobile messaging device. The mobile messaging device utilizes a graphical user interface (GUI) to display a screenshot of the prompt, and the mobile messaging device enables a user to enter a response to the prompt. Possible responses include, but are not limited to, a “yes” response, a “no” response, an “ignore” response, and a customized text response. The PNP receives the response to the prompt from the mobile messaging device, and the PNP provides the response to the application that generated the prompt.

  • Publication number: 20080256473
Abstract: A method, system and computer-usable medium are disclosed for using an interactive progress indicator bar to graphically display the completion status of a plurality of computer operations, reorder the sequence of predetermined operations before they are completed, and then restart the reordered operations. An interactive progress indicator bar is implemented in a graphical user interface (GUI) and comprises a plurality of progress indicator segments. As computer operations are completed, the details of their completion status are entered into a computer operation log and related to their corresponding progress indicator segments. Concurrently, color attributes are applied to progress indicator segments to graphically indicate the completion status of their associated computer operations. One or more progress indicator segments are selected through a first user gesture to view the completion status details of their corresponding computer operations.

  • Publication number: 20080222456
Abstract: A method and system for implementing failure data capture in a system having multiple components and where the components have processing dependencies with respect to other of the components. Trace data is collected for a first of the components using failure data capture data tracing. In response to detecting a failure condition in the first component, and in response to further determining that the first component is operating in a fail dependency mode, a correlation database that correlates errors' failure conditions with one or more of the multiple components is accessed to determine whether the correlation database specifies a correlation between the failure condition and at least one of the multiple components.

  • Publication number: 20080155026
Abstract: A system, method, and program product that receives an email message at a first computer system, the received email message being subsequent to an original email message that was addressed to a group of email recipients, and the received email message is addressed to one of the email participants that include the email recipients and the original sender of the original email message. The system, method, and computer program product identifies whether a continuity of service was set for the original email message. If the continuity of service was set for the original email message and that the received email message is addressed to the original sender, then the received email message is forwarded to the other email recipients.

  • Publication number: 20080098071
Abstract: A method, article, and system to implement software for enabling recipients to unsubscribe from an electronic message thread, in which case, the electronic message will not be delivered into the recipient's box, and therefore will not be utilizing any of the recipient's inbox space. The message server will hold the electronic message, where the recipient can access it if they choose. Also, other recipients who choose to reply-to-all will be notified of recipients who have unsubscribed, and will be able to then send the electronic message to the unsubscribed recipient if they are a required viewer.

  • Publication number: 20080098072
Abstract: A method, article, and system to implement software for enabling recipients to be added to an electronic message thread, while providing for the new recipient to receive previous messages within the electronic message thread. In addition, members that are currently a part of the message thread are notified of the addition of a new member to the electronic message thread, when they send out a new message, in order to provide the existing member the option to include the new member as a recipient of the new message within the electronic message thread.

  • Publication number: 20080046512
Abstract: A method for providing enhanced participation in a chat application is disclosed. The chat application allows an inviter to invite a guest, via a guest chat client, to participate in a conversation between the inviter via an inviter chat client and at least one participant via a participant chat client, the method including making available to the guest, by request of the inviter, a real-time view of the conversation from a perspective of the inviter. The real-time view of the conversation, from the perspective of the inviter, via the inviter chat client, comprises a connection absent the participant chat client. The making available to the guest the real-time view of the conversation from the perspective of the inviter comprises forwarding the conversation from the inviter chat client to the guest chat client.

  • Publication number: 20080021977
Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product for dynamically annotating Web pages passed via a messaging application is provided. The method includes transmitting a Web page and a graphical user interface (GUI) to a requester of the Web page. The GUI directs the requester to provide annotations to at least a portion of the Web page content, which annotations are translated to instructions interpretable by a Web browser. The instructions are bundled with a uniform resource locator (URL) of the Web page at a computer processing device of the requester. The method also includes receiving a request for the Web page from a second requester who received the instructions bundled with the URL of the Web page within a message transmitted by the requester. The method further includes directing a Web browser of the second requester to apply the instructions as the Web page is being rendered. Application of the instructions causes the Web browser to render the Web page along with the annotations.

  • Publication number: 20060294188
Abstract: A second email application and a third email application receive copies of an email sent by a first email application. In response to receiving the copy of the email, the second email application sends status information about the second email application to the third email application. The third email application provides an indicator that status information about the second email application is available.
