  • Publication number: 20240299137
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses (devices, systems, etc.) for simultaneously applying both palatal expansion and anterior force to a subject's teeth. An orthodontic apparatus may include a palatal region extending between two or more tooth engagement regions and one or more elastic band attachments projecting laterally and/or anteriorly form the tooth engagement region(s) that securely couple an elastic band to a headgear. These methods and apparatuses may be used for nonsurgical correction of Class III malocclusions during maxillary palatal expansion treatment or during a holding period of the palatal expansion treatment, e.g., following recent palatal expansion.

  • Patent number: 9724440
Abstract: A system and method according to various embodiments combines three separate technologies to form a unique lighting system with enhanced antimicrobial properties and air cleaning capabilities. The combination of the three technologies also produces a lighting system that extends the required maintenance period for lighting fixtures. The first technology is based on anatase type TiO2. The second and third technologies are based on the use of micro-sized surface structures to generate light scattering effects and, at the same time, reduce bacterial colonization and inhibit bacterial migration even during the absence of light or in dark environments.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: November 15, 2013
Date of Patent: August 8, 2017
    Assignee: GE LIGHTING SOLUTIONS, LLC
Inventors: Matthew A. Bugenske, Sebastien Magnan, Francois Turgeon, Dengke Cai, Jean-Francois Richard, Angela Wong
  • Publication number: 20170175991
Abstract: There is provided a light fixture that includes an air venting system. The light fixture includes a case having at least one reconfigurable surface that alters a flow area of the air venting system.
    Type: Application
    Filed: December 18, 2015
    Publication date: June 22, 2017

  • Patent number: 9642358
Abstract: Provided is a system enhancing control of bacterial growth by combining antimicrobial additives and surface micro-structure patterns on outer surfaces of a device, such as a lighting fixture. The system physically decreases bio-adhesion between microbes and substrates applied to the outer surfaces. The system combines a surface micro-structured component with an antimicrobial component to generate a single component.

  • Publication number: 20150276205
Abstract: A system and method according to various embodiments can include a lighting fixture comprising a light source. An antimicrobial additive is added to an outer light emitting surface of the lighting fixture exposed to air. A sealing substrate is positioned between the antimicrobial additive and the light source to provide clean room capabilities when the lighting fixture is installed to seal a plenum.

  • Patent number: 7673270
Abstract: Method and apparatus for compensating an integrated circuit design for mechanical stress effects. One aspect of the invention relates to designing an integrated circuit. Layout data is obtained that describes layers of the integrated circuit. At least one of the layers is analyzed to detect at least one structure susceptible to damage from mechanical stress. A bias is automatically added to each of the at least one structure to reduce mechanical stress of the at least one structure as fabricated. Augmented layout data is then provided for the integrated circuit.
