Upstream of the source there is disposed an applicator unit (51) for applying a liquid product to the web material according to a pre-established pattern. The printing cylinder (53) comprises at least one substantially continuous circumferential projection, which generates a continuous contact with the web material fed around the process roller (19) or with said process roller during treatment of the web material.
