Abstract: A disconnect switch blade electronic sensor assembly system for a disconnect switch including a sensor assembly directly attachable to a switch blade for detecting the switch blade position, acceleration vectors and angular velocity of the switch blade relative to a cooperating disconnect switch stationary break-jaw contact assembly using a self-contained array of on board sensors for detection to ensure that the switch blade is in full electrical and mechanical contact with the stationary contact assembly in a switch fully closed position switch and fully out of electrical and mechanical contact with the stationary contact assembly in a switch fully open position. The switch blade sensor assembly can include a visual indication component to provide visual indication on the sensor assembly of switch status relative to the break-jaw assembly which can be seen on the ground or may initiate a remote visual or other indication of such switch status.

Abstract: A motor operator system for a power switch which allows electrical motor operation to the GROUND POSITION via TRAVEL SET electronics to ensure personnel safety by accomplishing travel setting without a person entering an underground vault but also allows operation to the ground position manually if so desired. The motor operator system of the present invention includes a position switch panel that allows a three position set travel with travel adjust function. The three positions are CLOSE, OPEN, GROUND, or, alternatively, CLOSE, OPEN, CLOSE.

Abstract: A motor and a rotary potentiometer, or other position sensor, running on the motor shaft are mounted in a first enclosure with an output shaft for driving a power switch open or closed. A part of the system outside the first enclosure makes use of a motor position signal from the rotary potentiometer that is processed by a microcontroller that a worker can interact with at a switch panel to set and adjust motor travel limits without needing access into the motor enclosure. The first enclosure and its components can be used for various applications, including those for either underground or pad-mounted switches, which for the latter case can have the first enclosure inside a second enclosure on a pad, and the second enclosure also contains other power and control elements of the system. A portable unit with the switch panel for travel limits can be provided.
