  • Publication number: 20190199730
Abstract: Methods and systems are described for detecting command injection attacks. A positive, taint inference method includes receiving signature fragments on one hand, converting command injection instructions into command fragments on another hand, thus identifying potential attacks upon the condition that a command injection instruction includes critical untrusted parts by using signature fragments. A system detects command injection attacks using this kind of method, and remediates and rejects potential attacks.

  • Patent number: 10325169
Abstract: A spatio-temporal awareness engine combines a low-resolution tracking process and high resolution tracking process to employ an array of imaging sensors to track an object within the visual field. The system utilizes a low-resolution conversion through noise filtering and feature consolidation to load-balance the more computationally-intensive aspects of object tracking, allowing for a more robust system, while utilizing less computer resources. A process for target recovery and object path prediction in a robotic drone may include tracking targets using a combination of visual and acoustic multimodal sensors, operating a camera as a main tracking sensor of the multimodal sensors and feeding output of the camera to a spatiotemoral engine, complementing the main tracking sensor with non-visual, fast secondary sensors to assign rough directionality to a target tracking signal, and applying the rough directionality to prioritize visual scanning by the main tracking sensor.

  • Patent number: 10263706
Abstract: A controller area network (CAN) comprising a plurality of CAN nodes that communicate via a CAN bus that comprises a fiber optical network. The fiber optical network uses a single fiber and a single wavelength for transmit and receive, and comprises a passive reflective optical star. The reflective optical star comprises an optical mixing rod having a mirror at one end. The other end of the reflective optical star is optically coupled to the transmitters and receivers of a plurality of optical-electrical media converters by way of respective high-isolation optical Y-couplers. Each CAN node produces electrical signals (in accordance with the CAN message-based protocol) which are converted into optical pulses that are broadcast to the fiber optical network. Those optical pulses are then reflected back to all CAN nodes by the reflective optical star.

  • Patent number: 10193927
Abstract: Systems and methods for relocating executable instructions to arbitrary locations are described, in which the relocation of the instructions may be arbitrary or random, and may operate on groups of instructions or individual instructions. Such relocation may be achieved through hardware or software, and may use a virtual machine, software dynamic translators, interpreters, or emulators. Instruction relocation may use or produce a specification governing how to relocate the desired instructions. Randomizing the location of instructions provides defenses against a variety of security attacks. Such systems and methods may provide many advantages over other instruction relocation techniques, such as low runtime overhead, no required user interaction, applicability post-deployment, and the ability to operate on arbitrary executable programs.

  • Publication number: 20190003264
Abstract: A departure device couples to a bit using a connector that facilitates release of the bit from the departure device. The connector may be more millable than the departure device and can transmit axial and torque loads between the bit and the departure device. The connector may include a material having lesser strength or hardness than the departure device, and may be millable by the bit. Another example connector may have connection points with the bit, and a movable member of the departure device may a force to the connector and contribute to releasing the connection between the bit and the departure device. A tensile connector between the bit and the movable member may apply a tension force to the movable member, urging the movable member toward an extended position in which the movable member is aligned coherently with a sloped face of the departure device.
