  • Patent number: 6090809
Abstract: Novel piperzine derivatives substituted on one nitrogen by an aromatic system and on the other nitrogen by (2,5-dioxopyrrolidin)-1-yl) alkanes or (2,6-dioxopiperidin-1-yl) alkanes have been found to exhibit selective .alpha..sub.1A adrenergic activity. The compounds are useful for treatment of disease conditions, such as peripheral vascular disease, congestive heart failure, hypertension and especially benign prostatic hypertrophy.

  • Patent number: 5840813
Abstract: Method for homopolymerization of polyorganosiloxane macromonomers having acryloxy or methacryloxy groups. A miniemulsion of a methacryloxy functional polydimethylsiloxane macromonomer was prepared by mixing the macromonomer with a surfactant(s), and subjecting it to a high shear device. The macromonomer was polymerized in the miniemulsion by using a free radical initiator at high temperature. The amount of unreacted macromonomer is very low.

  • Patent number: 5731379
Abstract: Method of making copolymers of (i) an acrylic or methacrylic-functional polyisobutylene macromonomer, (ii) a polydiorganosiloxane macromonomer, and optionally (iii) a radical polymerizable monomer such as an alkyl acrylate or alkyl methacrylate. The copolymers are prepared by copolymerizing the monomers in a miniemulsion using a free radical initiator at high temperature. In the method, the monomers are mixed with a surfactant(s) and optionally a cosurfactant(s), and subjected to high shear.
