    Abstract: A system and method for coordinated scheduling of a telecom device to avoid multiplexing of control signaling and data signaling is disclosed. The method includes defining a round trip time for signaling transmissions. The method further includes allocating the signal transmissions and signal retransmissions for uplink transmissions which are directed by a first scheduling mode and downlink transmissions which are directed by a second scheduling mode to take place in a subframe time position where control signaling transmissions are not being transmitted in subframes where data transmissions and retransmissions are being transmitted. This system and method are particularly useful for telecommunication devices in power limited situations.

    Abstract: A method of uplink carrier handoff in a multiple carrier communication system may include receiving a measurement report from a mobile providing information regarding path loss as measured at the mobile for one of the multiple carriers on the downlink. A serving carrier may be the carrier over which the mobile communicates on the uplink. An instruction may be selectively sent to the mobile to handoff to a non-serving one of the multiple carriers depending on whether a threshold requirement has been met. The meeting of the threshold requirement may be based on the received measurement report and the serving carrier of the mobile. Each of the multiple carriers may have an associated threshold requirement.

Overall signaling overhead associated with scheduling re-transmissions is reduced through the signaling of a single message which indicates hopping locations for at least two re-transmissions instead of two or more separate messages, wherein each of the two or more separate message indicates a hopping location for an individual re-transmission.
