  • Patent number: 8279862
Abstract: A communication system includes a switching system and a service control system. The switching system receives and processes a communication request to transfer a query message. The service control system receives and processes the query message to generate and transfer a response message indicating a route. The switching system receives and processes the response message indicating the route and transfers a communication using the route. The service control system may process the query message with multiple parallel functions to generate an action message and process the action message to select the route.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: October 10, 2007
Date of Patent: October 2, 2012
    Assignee: Sprint Communications Company L.P.
Inventors: Daniel Charles Sbisa, Anis Khalil, Warren B. Cope, John T. Susbilla, Ramaswami Rangarajan

  • Patent number: 6389015
Abstract: A method of and system for managing a SONET ring computes an optimally balanced demand loading for the SONET ring and generates an updated time slot assignment map for each node of the SONET ring based upon the optimally balanced demand loading. The method causes each node of the SONET ring to switch substantially simultaneously to its updated time slot assignment map, thereby reconfiguring the SONET ring.

  • Patent number: 5949872
Abstract: A CCS network architecture is provided that segregates traffic. The CCS network includes a first network dedicated to a first type of traffic and a second network dedicated to a second type of traffic. Internal switches, foreign mated STP pairs, and foreign switches are provided with dual-homing features.

  • Patent number: 5825857
Abstract: Method and system for calling card validation hubbing provides a hubbed architecture for communicating validation messages relating to a calling card number to be validated between a telecommunications network which accepts a calling card call and the telecommunications network which issued the card. The hubbing system provides transport links and protocol translation between ANSI SS7, ITU CCS7 and X.25 for each telecommunications network which is attached. When an attached telecommunications network accepts a calling card call, an authorization request including calling card number is sent to the hubbing system, translated to the protocol used by the card issuing network and transported to the card issuing network for validation. Also communicated are request responses, which indicate success or failure of validation, and call disposition messages, which provide a timely estimate of call duration and charges.
