  • Patent number: 11792037
Abstract: A safety automation system for an occupiable structure includes a computing management system, a first detection device, and a second detection device. The management system includes a computer processor, and a computer readable storage medium configured to run embedded software, The first detection device is adapted to detect a hazard condition and output an associated hazard condition detected signal to the computing management system. The second detection device is adapted to detect the presence of an occupant in the occupiable structure and the occupant's proximity to the first detection device, and output an occupied signal to the computing management system. The computing management system adjusts the sensitivity of the first detection device based on occupancy and proximity of the occupant to the first detection device.

  • Publication number: 20230175954
Abstract: A method of directly measuring moisture content in an oil-filled transformer includes using an optical fiber that having a grating sensor, such as a Fiber Bragg grating, defined in the optical fiber. The various conductors (windings) in the transformer are insulated using an insulator such as paper and insulating oil is filled inside the transformer. Moisture in the transformer is absorbed by the paper that surrounds the windings. A moisture content at a specific location can be measured by placing the optical fiber with the grating sensor directly at the specific location to be measured. A physical parameter of the paper that absorbed moisture changes over time, causing a change in the grating sensor of the optical fiber which changes the spectral response of optical signals that are reflected by the grating sensor. The method provides an accurate method of measuring the moisture inside the transformer at the specific location.

  • Patent number: 10685545
Abstract: Open-chamber smoke detector and detection method. An elecromagnetic emitter emits radiation, a sensor receives the signal after it has travelled through the monitored area and analyses it to determine whether smoke is present by comparison with a reference signal representative of a smoke plume.
