  • Publication number: 20250078513
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for proctoring online exams that collects reference samples of a student's speech and video of them looking at their computer screen. Audio and video of the student are then captured during the exam. That audio and video is segmented and compared to the reference samples in order to identify segments that potentially contain at least one of another speaker who is not the student, the student looking away from the computer screen, another face that is not the student's. The frequency and severity of flagged segments are used to indicate the overall level of suspicion to an exam proctor.

  • Publication number: 20240369864
Abstract: A silicon-on-insulator (SOI) dense-wavelength-division-multiplexing (DWDM) device includes micro-ring modulators (MRMs) having radii under 5 micrometers. A 16-channel embodiment may provide a free spectral range of 3.2 THz, 200 GHz channel spacing, 41 GHz bandwidth, and a Q factor of 4500. PN junctions of rib ring waveguides (RWRs) may be perpendicular or parallel with a plane of the RWRs. On-chip inductive components may be used to match reactances of the PN junctions. The RWRs may be relatively wide and a rib bus waveguide may be relatively narrow (e.g., narrower than the RWRs). MRM outer slaps may be wider than inner slabs. Regions inside and outside of the RWRs, including slabs at optical coupling gaps may be doped to improve modulation efficiency. Regions of the rib bus waveguide distant from the optical coupling gaps may be undoped. Cavities may be provided below the MRMs and associated heater elements.

  • Patent number: 11456944
Abstract: Detecting an outage by a first node in layer N of a multi-layer mesh network that is in communication with a root node via the mesh network. After waiting for a sustained outage period that expires, the first node waits for a layer-specific time interval that is based on a topology of the second layer. The first node receives a last gasp from a second node in layer N+1 of the multi-layer mesh network. The last gasp includes an identifier for the second node and an indication of layer N+1. After the layer-specific time interval expires, the first node transmits a consolidated last gasp that includes an identifier for the first node, an indication of layer N, the identifier for the second node, and the indication of layer N+1.
