Patent number: 7440564Abstract: A privacy management system is disclosed for when a calling party has a private telephone number. Privacy screening services allow a subscriber to manage and monitor incoming telephone calls, such that unwanted calls are not terminated to the subscriber. When a calling party calls the subscriber to this privacy screening service, the privacy management system manages the call according to whether the calling party number is known and public, known and private, or unknown. If the calling party number is known and public, the call is routed to the subscriber. If, however, the calling party is known and private, an announcement is played to the calling party, asking the calling party for permission to override his or her privacy. If the calling party is unknown, the calling party is asked to record his/her name.Type: GrantFiled: October 27, 2006Date of Patent: October 21, 2008Assignee: AT&T Intellectual Property I, L.P.Inventors: Nicholas P. Patent number: 6876735Abstract: An advanced intelligent network telephone system for terminating calls to subscribers to a privacy screening service, when the calling party has a private telephone number. Privacy screening services allow a subscriber to manage and monitor incoming telephone calls, such that unwanted calls are not terminated to the subscriber. When a calling party dials the telephone number of a subscriber to a privacy screening service, the system manages the call according to whether the calling party number is known and public, known and private, or unknown. If the calling party number is known and public, the call is routed to the subscriber. If the calling party is known and private, the call is routed to a service node, which plays an announcement to the calling party, asking the calling party for permission to override his or her privacy.Type: GrantFiled: April 1, 2003Date of Patent: April 5, 2005Assignee: BellSouth Intellectual Property CorporationInventors: Nicholas P. Patent number: 6748069Abstract: A method and system for routing Calling Name queries in a locally competitive environment includes the creation of a Calling Name query having both the calling party number and the called party number. The query is routed to a service control point of the local exchange carrier, where the called party number is extracted to determine the Calling Name service provider for the called party. The service control point accesses a series of databases to route the Calling Name query to the proper service provider/destination. The databases include a database storing a table of subscribers and their choice for Calling Name service, a database storing porting status of telephone numbers, and a database storing information about distribution of other local number portability databases.Type: GrantFiled: September 19, 1997Date of Patent: June 8, 2004Assignee: BellSouth Intellectual Property Corp.Inventors: Prasad Nimmagadda, Anita H. Patent number: 6130941Abstract: A method and system for controlling access to information stored in an information database includes an unbundled port service control point coupled to an unbundled port information database. A signal transfer point routes line information database, calling name information, and other queries from an originating network to the unbundled port service control point. The unbundled port information database stores an unbundled port identifier that includes a dialing number for an unbundled port and a service provider identifier. The unbundled port information database also stores an information service identifier that includes a location for the database storing the service provider's information and access rights to that information for various networks. The unbundled port service control point extracts the originating network identity from the query and determines access rights to the requested information based upon the access rights for the information as stored in the database.Type: GrantFiled: January 29, 1998Date of Patent: October 10, 2000Assignee: BellSouth Intellectual Property CorporationInventors: Prasad Nimmagadda, Anita H.
