Abstract: Disclosed herein is a computer implemented method for dynamically adding dimensions specific to a tenant in a data warehouse without changing the structure of the fact table. Metadata is provided in a metadata table of a warehouse staging layer to map natural key values of the dimensions, obtained from predefined placeholder columns of a source transaction table, to predefined master tables. In the warehouse staging layer, a distinct combination of the natural key values obtained from the source transaction table is assigned a surrogate key. The surrogate key is updated in the bridge table of the warehousing layer. A fact table is then populated with the assigned surrogate key of the bridge table. Views are dynamically created for the dimension tables of the dimensions to connect the fact table to the dimension tables via the bridge table.
