Abstract: The present invention discloses the method of operating data-processing system for calibration of a vehicle surround view. The process is based on images capturing of one or more 2D calibration patterns located at arbitrary positions in an overlapping field of view between two or more cameras fixed to the vehicle. The calibration patterns are arbitrary orientated in respect to the vehicle or other calibration patterns. Each calibration pattern is laying in the plane Z=0 on which the vehicle having surround view system is parked. The images of any calibration pattern j positioned in an overlapping field of view between two or more cameras are taken simultaneously establishing connected topological structure of the form: camera i—pattern j—camera i?—pattern j ? 1—camera in—. The data-processing results with the corrected extrinsic camera i parameters RC, for the vehicle coordinate system.
