Patent number: 9151385Abstract: A multi-part piston for a brake saddle of a hydraulically and/or mechanically and/or electromechanically actuated disk brake is described herein. The piston is a pot open on one side and including a base and a wall attached thereto in one piece. The base can be impinged by brake pressure coming from the inside of the pot so that an outward-facing abutting surface of the base can be pressed against a brake lining. The inside of the pot receives at least one pressure piece associated with a parking brake mechanism. For simplified manufacture in the form of a modular piston system for use in various applications, it is proposed that the pressure piece and the base comprise conical surfaces facing one another for transferring braking pressure.Type: GrantFiled: December 14, 2010Date of Patent: October 6, 2015Assignee: Continental Teves AG & Co. oHGInventors: Thomas Winkler, Uwe Zeibig, Dirk Koch, Anja Klimt, Herwig Bauer

Patent number: 8869677Abstract: A piston for a brake caliper of a disc brake constructed as a pot which is open at one end, having a longitudinal axis, a wall, and a piston head. The piston is supported in a cylinder of the brake caliper such that it can be moved along the longitudinal direction, and it can be placed against a brake pad in the region of the piston head by an axial contact surface. When the piston is subjected to pressure by a hydraulic fluid, the piston moves in the cylinder and presses the brake pad against a brake disc. A projection having a conical surface is provided on an inner surface of the piston head. A recess is provided, which is substantially at the same distance from the longitudinal axis as the projection on the inner surface of the piston head, on an outer surface of the piston head.Type: GrantFiled: October 23, 2008Date of Patent: October 28, 2014Assignees: Continental Teves AG & Co. oHG, Erdrich-Beteiligungs GmbHInventors: Dirk Koch, Herwig Bauer, Thomas Winkler, Anja Klimt, Uwe Zeibig

Patent number: 8684147Abstract: A combined vehicle brake which has a hydraulically actuable service brake and an electromechanically actuable parking brake device, a hydraulic service pressure space being delimited in a brake housing by a brake piston which can be acted upon by hydraulic pressure medium in order to execute service braking operations, so that the brake piston can be actuated along a piston longitudinal axis in order to achieve a braking action, and the parking brake device acting on the brake piston by a gear, in that the gear converts the rotational movement of an electromechanical actuator into a translational movement and causes an actuation of the brake piston in order to execute parking braking operations and holds the said brake piston in the actuated position, the gear having a threaded spindle and a threaded nut which are in contact with one another via a plurality of rolling bodies.Type: GrantFiled: October 21, 2008Date of Patent: April 1, 2014Assignee: Continental Teves AG & Co. oHGInventors: Thomas Winkler, Anja Klimt, Thomas Hess, Willi Zeig, Marcus Schumann

Patent number: 8616348Abstract: A combined vehicle brake including a hydraulically actuated service brake and an electromechanically actuated parking brake device, a hydraulic operating pressure chamber in a brake housing being defined by a brake piston, which for performing service braking actions can be acted upon by hydraulic pressure fluid, so that the brake piston can be actuated along a piston longitudinal axis in order to produce a braking action, and the parking brake device acting on the brake piston by way of a transmission that translates the rotary motion of an electromechanical actuator into a translational motion and actuates the brake piston to perform parking brake actions and to keep it in the actuated position. Also disclosed is a transmission for translating a rotary motion into a translational motion by way of a screw spindle and a spindle nut, which are in contact with one another by way of multiple rolling elements.Type: GrantFiled: September 26, 2007Date of Patent: December 31, 2013Assignee: Continental Teves AG & Co. oHGInventors: Thomas Winkler, Jürgen Balz, Dirk Koch, Marcus Schumann, Anja Klimt, Jürgen Bauer, Torsten Hintz

Patent number: 8544618Abstract: A brake pad for a partially-lined disk brake and a method for making such a brake pad. The brake pad has a back plate, a friction lining arranged fixedly on a front side of the back plate and a damping plate provided on a rear side. At least one hook-shaped guide end adjoins a body region of the back plate in a circumferential direction. The guide end has an elevation with a material thickness D increased in relation to a material thickness d of the body region. At least one abutment face for tangential abutment in a circumferential direction is provided on the guide end and a support face is provided thereon for radial support in a radial direction. The damping plate has at least one bent-over bracket which rests against the radial support face in a bracket region of the back plate. The damping plate is offset axially to the rear relative to the bracket region in the body region of the back plate.Type: GrantFiled: April 29, 2008Date of Patent: October 1, 2013Assignee: Continental Engineering Services GmbHInventors: Anja Klimt, Matthias Würz, Christian Piehler
