    Abstract: An audio system for visualizing and customizing a sound space. The audio system detects sound signals and determines directions of the sound signals. The audio system associates each of the sound signals with a visualization, and provides a graphical user interface (GUI) to display a sound space based on the visualizations and the directions of the sound signals. The visualizations are placed at positions on the GUI corresponding to the directions of the respective sound signals relative to a user. The GUI also includes an interactive element configured to receive a user interaction for modifying a parameter of a particular sound signal. Responsive to receiving the user interaction, the audio system modifies the parameter of the particular sound signal, and plays the sound signals with the particular sound signal modified based on the user interaction.

    Abstract: A wearable device for monitoring the hearing of a user of the wearable device is provided. In one aspect, the wearable device may include a sensor and a processor. The processor may be configured to receive sensor data from the sensor. The sensor data may include a primary noise and an ambient noise in the environment of the user. The processor may be configured to determine a baseline listening-effort-to-ambient-noise ratio (LEANR) based on the primary noise and the ambient noise in the environment. The processor may be configured to determine multiple additional LEANRs. The processor may be configured to determine, over a predetermined time interval, an LEANR trend for the baseline LEANR and the multiple additional LEANRs. The processor may be configured to determine, based on the LEANR trend, a loss of hearing of the wearable device user. A method and a non-transitory machine-readable storage medium are also disclosed.

    Abstract: An audio signal is enhanced using interaural coherence to control noise reduction and binaural cue preservation. Sounds from a local area are detected via an acoustic array. An interaural coherence is determined using the detected sounds. Sound filters for an audio signal are generated based on the interaural coherence. The sound filters implement a tradeoff between increasing signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) between a target source and an interfering source and preserving of binaural information of the interfering source. The tradeoff is controlled based on the interaural coherence. The sound filters are applied to the audio signal to generate audio content. The audio content is presented via a speaker array.

A method, for including character avatars in enhanced reality applications is also provided. The method includes determining a degree of interest of a user on a character in online content, generating a virtual interaction event between the user and an avatar for the character in online content, and providing to the user, via the enhanced reality device, the virtual interaction event with the avatar for the character in the online content.
