A transportation system provides a route from an origin to a destination to a client device associated with a driver of the route. The transportation system receives location data from the client device associated with the driver and calculates one or more error values based on the location data. The transportation system provides a re-route to the client device based on determining that the one or more error values are greater than a threshold value.

    Abstract: Example embodiments are directed to systems and methods for providing pickup point assistance. In example embodiments, a network system uses data received from one or more sensors to detect a location of a user that is requesting a transportation service. The network system also tracks, a driver along a route to the pickup point. Based on the tracking, an estimated time of arrival (ETA) of the driver at the pickup point is determined. Using the location of the user and the ETA of the driver, the network system performs analysis to determine whether an issue exists that affects the rider arriving at the pickup point on time to meet the driver. Based on the analysis, a notification to the user regarding the issue is automatically presented, whereby the notification is displayed on a device of the user.

According to one example, a method of establishing a network connection may include establishing an initial data connection between a first network device and a second network device via a third network device, the third network device providing an initial communication channel required to exchange setup messaging between the first network device and the second network device. Other operations may include establishing another data connection between the first network device and the second device after the setup messaging is exchanged, the another connection being independent of the third network device, and transferring data messages between the first network device and the second network device via the another connection. Once the P2P connection is established, the initial data connection may be removed.

    Abstract: A device's arrival at a destination location is automatically detected, and notification of such arrival is automatically generated, without any need for a user to specify the destination location in advance. A perimeter, or geofence, is continually or periodically defined around the device's current location. A timer is automatically set, with some pre-specified duration. If the device exits the geofence before the timer expires, the new location of the device is determined, a new geofence around that location is defined, and the timer is reset. If the timer expires before the device exits the geofence, the device is considered to have arrived at a destination; an “arrives” event is generated. Notification of such an event can be output at the device and/or transmitted to one or more subscribers. Various exceptions, conditions, and preferences can be taken into account so as to avoid false positives.
