  • Publication number: 20080184124
Abstract: Existing remote workspace sharing systems are difficult to use. For example, changes made on a common work product by one user often appear abruptly on displays viewed by remote users. As a result the interaction is perceived as unnatural by the users and is often inefficient. Images of a display of a common work product are received from a camera at a first location. These images may also comprise information about objects between the display and the camera such as a user's hand editing a document on a tablet PC. These images are combined with images of the shared work product and displayed at remote locations. Advance information about remote user actions is then visible and facilitates collaborative mediation between users. Depth information may be used to influence the process of combining the images.

  • Publication number: 20080184248
Abstract: A user is enabled to reserve computer resources using a calendaring graphical user interface (GUI). The calendaring GUI enables viewing of resources currently in use and/or reserved for future use, and/or available for scheduling, that is stored within a scheduling data store. The user may employ the calendaring GUI to visually identify available timeslots to reserve resources, and/or modify, or delete a scheduled job. When the user schedules a job, a reservation identifier (RID) may be provided, which may then be submitted with the job to a distinct scheduler program. Each scheduler program may employ the RID and scheduling data store to determine whether to execute the job, or place the job in a sleep mode. If a job uses more or less than a reserved time, the scheduling data store may be revised to reserve additional time, or to relinquish unused resources.

  • Publication number: 20080168549
Abstract: Community based defense, in which multiple security devices operate as a part of a single community in providing security defense i.e. avoiding redundant security checks and enables efficient deployment and utilization of resources. The devices in a community communicate with each other to determine their roles and the security policies to enforce, based on the specific role they have undertaken. Thus primary player may operate with a larger set of security policies. However, the secondary players (operating on smaller policy sets) may periodically check the operational status of the primary player and assumes the role of primary, if needed. Later, it may gracefully relinquish the temporary role back to former primary, once the primary is up and operational.

  • Publication number: 20080151605
Abstract: An SRAM cell has reduced gate and sub-threshold leakage currents. The SRAM cell is designed to include eight operatively coupled transistors to reduce leakage currents irrespective of data stored in the SRAM cell. The transistors lower the effective supply voltage at different nodes, when either bit ‘0’ or ‘1’ is stored in the SRAM cell. The reduced effective supply voltage is passed to other coupled transistors for minimizing leakages. The SRAM cell operates in an active mode and dissipates no dynamic power during active mode to inactive mode transition and vice-versa operations. The SRAM cell is also capable of reducing bit line leakage currents under suitable conditions.

  • Publication number: 20080148148
Abstract: A notification system, upon receiving an indication of an event, determines whether the user has requested to suppress event notifications. When the user has requested to suppress event notifications, the notification system suppresses the event notification by not notifying the user of the event. When the user has not requested to suppress event notifications, the notification system infers whether the user wants to suppress event notifications. When the notification system infers that the user does not want to suppress event notifications, the notification system provides to the user a normal event notification. When the notification system infers that the user does want to suppress event notifications, the notification system provides to the user a modified event notification.

  • Patent number: 7389300
Abstract: A system for multi-staged in-memory checkpoint replication with relaxed consistency includes a replication manager and a cluster with a plurality of nodes. In accordance with a configurable replication policy, the replication manager may be configured to identify a primary group of nodes to store primary replicas of a specified source memory region of a source node, and to identify a node of the primary group as an initiator of replication to a secondary group of nodes. In response to a replication request, the replication manager may be configured to copy contents of one or more data blocks of the source memory region to a each node of the primary group within a single atomic transaction, and initiate an operation to copy the contents of the data blocks from the initiator to an additional node of the secondary group.

  • Publication number: 20080136035
Abstract: A low-temperature process that combines high-aspect-ratio polymer structures with electroless copper plating to create laterally compliant MEMS structures. These structures can be used as IC-package interconnects that can lead to reliable, low-cost and high-performance nano wafer-level packaging. High-aspect-ratio low CTE polyimide structures with low stress, high toughness and strength were fabricated using plasma etching. The dry etching process was tuned to yield a wall angle above 80 degrees leading to an aspect ratio higher than 4. The etching process also leads to roughened sidewalls for selective electroless plating on the sidewalls of the polymer structures. These fabricated structures show reduction in the stresses at the interfaces and superior reliability as IC-package nano interconnects. Metal-coated polymer structures from MEMS fabrication techniques can provide low-cost high-performance solutions for wafer-level-packaging. Other embodiments are also claimed and described.

  • Publication number: 20080120261
Abstract: A method is disclosed that enables the selection of a team of people in an organization, such as a business enterprise, to participate in a task that involves communicating with each other, in which the selection of the team seeks to maximize the team cohesiveness. The illustrative embodiment of the present invention incorporates the use of a social network model to describe the communication pattern in the organization. Based on the relationship between the organization's social network structure and the cohesiveness between the people in the organization, the technique of the illustrative embodiment estimates the dyadic cohesiveness of each pair of people, which is defined as the expected value of relationship strength between each evaluated pair of people. One component of the relationship strength is the number of interactions between the two people in the pair. The technique of the illustrative embodiment then uses the cohesiveness estimates to select teams.

  • Publication number: 20080119905
Abstract: Methods and systems for performing capture threshold tests are described. During an initialization procedure a capture detection interval and capture detection threshold are determined based on peak values of cardiac signals sensed following the supracapture threshold initialization pulses. Following initialization, a plurality of pacing pulses to the atrium are delivered and the peak values of the cardiac signals sensed following each of the plurality of pacing pulses are determined. The peak values are compared to the pacing artifact threshold and the capture detection threshold. A timing of each of the peak values is compared to the capture detection interval. For each pacing pulse, discrimination between a captured response, a noncaptured response, and a fusion response is based on the peak value and timing comparisons.

  • Publication number: 20080119902
Abstract: Methods and systems for classifying cardiac responses to pacing stimulation and managing retrograde conduction and pacemaker mediated tachyarrhythmia are described. An atrial pacing pulse and a ventricular pacing pulse are delivered during a paced cardiac cycle. A post ventricular atrial refractory period (PVARP) is timed following the ventricular pacing pulse. The system determines if the atrial pacing pulse captures the atrium. An atrial depolarization occurring after the paced cardiac cycle is sensed. Retrograde management is initiated if the atrial pacing pulse did not capture the atrium and the atrial depolarization occurred during the PVARP. Pacemaker mediated tachyarrhythmia (PMT) is initiated if the atrial pacing pulse did not capture the atrium and the atrial depolarization did not occur during the PVARP.

  • Publication number: 20080101234
Abstract: In general, the invention is directed to techniques of identifying an infected network device in a computer network where traffic to and from the infected network device is not necessarily routed through a single point on the computer network. For example, individual line cards in network devices count incoming network flows from network devices in host tables. The host tables of all line cards of all participating network devices are then correlated. It is then determined whether the number of flows from a network device outweighs the number of flows to the network device to a significant degree. If so, the network device may be considered suspicious. Packets from a suspicious network device may be rerouted to a network security device for more thorough inspection.

  • Publication number: 20080104276
Abstract: A unique identifier is assigned to a network node and is used to obtain an “asset model” corresponding to the node and to determine whether the node is a member of a particular category. An asset model is a set of information about a node (e.g., the node's role within the enterprise, software installed on the node, and known vulnerabilities/weaknesses of the node). An identifier lookup module determines a node's identifier based on characteristics of the node (such as IP address, host name, network zone, and/or MAC address), which are used as keys into lookup data structures. A category lookup module determines whether a particular node is a member of (i.e., within) a particular category using a transitive closure to model the categories (properties) that can be attached to an asset model. A transitive closure for a particular asset category is stored as a bitmap, similar to bitmap indexing.

  • Publication number: 20080104084
Abstract: A relationship engine provides for the management of relationship information between entities. The relationship information indicates the level (or degree) of relationship between an entity and another entity or entities. The relationship engine allows applications to access the relationship information that is being managed by the relationship engine. For example, when an application needs to process an interaction between one entity and another entity, the application can query the relationship engine for the relationship between the entities. The application can then base its processing behavior at least in part on the relationship information obtained from the relationship engine.
