  • Patent number: 8590529
Abstract: An actuator for an inhaler for delivering medicament by inhalation, comprising: a housing for receiving a canister which comprises a body which includes a base and a head and defines a chamber containing medicament, and a valve stem which extends from the body and from which medicament is in use delivered on actuation of the canister; an outlet through which a user in use inhales; and a nozzle assembly which provides for delivery of medicament through the outlet, wherein the nozzle assembly comprises a nozzle block which receives the valve stem of the canister and, as a separately-formed component, a nozzle outlet which is fluidly connected to the nozzle block and includes an outlet orifice from which medicament is in use delivered.

  • Publication number: 20080014242
Abstract: The invention includes a synthetic bone substitute material suitable for use as a replacement for cancellous bone in a bone graft composition, the material comprising a reticulated framework of interconnecting bioceramic struts defining an interconnecting interstitial void volume, and a solid non-porous composition substantially filling the interstitial void volume and in intimate contact with the reticulated framework, the pore-filling composition comprising calcium sulfate. Calcium triphosphate is a preferred bioceramic material for the reticulated framework.

  • Patent number: 5730598
Abstract: An implant and a process for treating the same wherein the implant has a highly pure coating of crystalline hydroxylapatite (HA). The implant is initially coated with HA using a plasma spraying technique and is then subjected to a two stage process, including a hydrothermal treatment stage and a leaching stage. The resulting implant is highly crystalline, containing only a small percentage of amorphous calcium phosphate and essentially being free of calcium hydroxide, calcium oxide, and calcium carbonate.
