  • Publication number: 20260198798
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for determining a respiration rate of a subject. A pressure signal providing unit provides a measured pressure signal of a subject over a time, wherein the measured pressure signal is indicative of blood pulsations and comprises a plurality of pressure pulses, and a processor determines, for a respective pressure pulse of the plurality of pressure pulses (9), a respective dicrotic notch position and determines the respiration rate based on the dicrotic notch positions determined for the plurality of pressure pulses (9). This allows for a very accurate determination of the respiration rate.

  • Publication number: 20260198800
Abstract: Wearable smart devices are disclosed that incorporate a unique means of detecting or measuring a substance of interest, for example to detect ammonia in the secreted foot sweat of a diabetic via incorporation of the sensing arrangement in a footwear article or insole. The setup employs the combination of a colour-changing sensing membrane responsive to the substance of interest, an optical sensor appropriately positioned to capture the membrane within its field of view, and an illumination means for illuminating the membrane to enable optical imaging thereof, from which a controller can then detect the colour of the membrane and determine the presence or measurement of the substance of interest. A left/right self-identification circuit is included in each wearable smart device to enable a cooperative pair of such devices, worn on different bilateral appendages, to self-identify their left/right designation to the external device that receives the outputted signals from the wearables.

  • Publication number: 20260198818
Abstract: A dried blood spot collection (DBS) card that assists with correct and efficient collection of capillary blood using a dried blood spot collection (DBS) collection device. The DBS card may comprise a rectangular shape configured to be held in a DBS collection device in a desired orientation for blood sample collection. The DBS card comprises target discs aligned with the collection apertures on the DBS collection device. The patient will be able to direct drops of capillary blood to pass through the top holes and then blood will travel into the DBS card at precise locations so as to ensure proper saturation while minimizing risk of outside contaminants and/or cross-contamination between target spots. Further, the target spots are physically surrounded by voids separated by bridges such that the patient can verify saturation level by looking at the saturation of the central target disc.

  • Publication number: 20260198880
Abstract: A dental imaging sensor holder is disclosed that securely supports a dental imaging sensor while enabling multiple mounting configurations. In one embodiment, the holder includes opposing arms or grasping portions that receive and retain the sensor, the arms being adjustable to accommodate different sensor sizes. Connector channels or pivoting extensions formed on the holder allow attachment of a holder arm in different orientations, eliminating the need for multiple dedicated holders. The holder arm supports a bite block and an aiming ring coupler so that an aiming ring can be aligned with the sensor regardless of configuration. In certain embodiments, the holder further includes detent mechanisms, gear-and-tooth engagements, or rotatable bosses that permit indexed positioning of the sensor relative to the holder arm. The system provides a versatile and reconfigurable structure for accurately aligning a dental imaging sensor with an imaging emitter while reducing the number of separate holders required.
