Abstract: A vehicle monitoring system and method receive a selection of at least one vehicle-of-interest onboard a vehicle system moving along one or more routes in a transportation network. The at least one vehicle-of-interest is disposed on the one or more routes in the transportation network. One or more locations of the at least one vehicle-of-interest are monitored from onboard the vehicle system. The one or more locations of the at least one vehicle-of-interest are displayed on a display device disposed onboard the vehicle system. A determination is made whether to change display of the one or more locations of the at least one vehicle-of-interest on the display device based on an update to a notified state of the at least one vehicle-of-interest being received onboard the vehicle system.

Abstract: A vehicle control system and method display a map within a designated viewing area of a display device. The map provides information on a location of a vehicle and restrictions on vehicle movement. Prompts for response from a vehicle operator are displayed with the map. The prompts are based on the vehicle location and/or the movement restrictions. The are displayed on the vehicle display device but outside of the designated viewing area of the vehicle display device. Operator input is received in response to the one or more prompts to verify that the vehicle is moving according to the one or more restrictions on the movement of the vehicle.

Abstract: A vehicle advisory system and method determine whether a vehicle system moving along a route is within a designated distance of a feature of interest, initiate a distance-based alert sequence of an advisory device of the vehicle system in response to determining that the vehicle system is at or within the designated distance of the feature of interest, and generate advisory signals using the advisory device according to the distance-based alert sequence. The advisory signals are indicative of passage of the vehicle system by the feature of interest during the distance-based alert sequence. The distance-based alert sequence dictates one or more of plural different commencement locations or commencement distances at which advisory signals are generated by the advisory device. The distance-based alert sequence also dictates one or more of plural different termination locations or termination distances where generation of the advisory signals by the advisory device is terminated.
